Development and Communications Manager – Locust Projects

DESCRIPTION
The Development & Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy for consistent cultivation, stewardship, meaningful recognition, and engagement opportunities for Locust Projects donors, members, and sponsors. In addition, this position is responsible for implementing and overseeing strategies that build Locust Projects’ visibility locally, nationally and internationally. The Development and Communications Manager works as part of a team with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and staff to support the artist-centric mission and values of Locust Projects.

Responsibilities:
Recommend, create, and implement stewardship, accountability and reporting strategies to create a sustainable and cohesive member/donor/sponsor experience from solicitation to stewardship and engagement.
Develop and oversee donor engagement programs and annual fundraising events
Develop and oversee communications strategies that engage artists/donors/members and build visibility for Locust Projects locally, nationally and internationally
Identify new prospects and cultivation opportunities
Oversee grant writing strategy, schedule and reporting working with grants writer.
Maintain and maximize Locust Projects’ use of current communications and cultivation vehicles including E-Tapestry, social media platforms and locustprojects.org
Supervise 2 related support staff, events/membership volunteers, and interns

Job Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum of two years of experience in direct membership/donor relations and stewardship for arts-related non-profits required
Experience in use of social media as a communications and promotional tool and proficiency in E-Tapestry or similar donor management system is required
Bachelor’s degree in arts, museum administration, public relations, communications, or related field preferred
Familiarity with South Florida’s art and culture community preferred
Public relations/marketing/communications experience preferred
Experience coordinating programming or special events preferred
Excellent communications, organizational skills, attention to detail, resourcefulness, strategic thinking, and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects under demanding deadlines required
Ability to provide excellent customer service experience required
Ability to work nights and occasional weekends required; occasional travel opportunities
Love of contemporary art, a sense of humor, and unflappability a plus
