Citizens Committee for New York City seeks a motivated and talented individual to join our team! Citizens Committee is a growing non-profit with a simple mission: to help New Yorkers – especially those in low-income communities – come together to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods. We do so by providing micro-grants and know-how to resident-led groups undertaking innovative projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Donor Research, Cultivation, Proposal Writing, and Reporting
Cultivate new prospects through research and outreach
Develop concept papers, proposals, presentations and donor reports
Ensure all donor deadlines (reports and proposals) are met
Coordinate site visits for current and prospective fundersm, including Trolley Tour
Oversee Love Your City Volunteer Program
Select grassroots groups to participate in Love Your City
Help match corporate volunteer groups with appropriate volunteer projects
Manage all volunteer event logistics and ensure events run smoothly and manage follow up
Knowledge Management
Manage donor database (Salesforce) and donor acknowledgement process
Enter gifts and generate revenue reports
Work with COO to ensure consistency between the donor and accounting systems.
Special Events
Manage the Gala, Cocktail, and Young Citizens Committee events in conjunction with the Director of Development
Generate guest lists and coordinate event mailings as necessary
Coordinate vendors and other logistics as needed
Qualifications
This is a small development department, and it is critical that the DVC be willing to jump in, learn quickly and go the extra mile. The ideal candidate must be able to work well under pressure and have a demonstrated exceptional ability to pay attention to details. It’s important the right person has highly-developed writing, customer service and interpersonal/verbal communications.
Bachelor’s degree
Two years of successful fundraising experience preferred
Excellent organizational skills and time-management skills
Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
Experience with Salesforce or similar donor databases a plus
Experience managing a volunteer program is desirable
Flexibility in work hours, including some evening and weekend work
