Development Associate – Menlo Park – There With Care of the Bay Area

There With Care’s mission is to provide a wide range of meaningful and fundamental services to children and families during the critical phase of a medical crisis. We serve families referred by medical agencies by building a network of services and people who ease the burden of life’s day-to-day obligations with compassion and care.

There With Care is poised for significant growth in 2017 and beyond. While we continue to serve families at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital on the Peninsula, we are currently expanding our program into San Francisco to serve families at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. The Development Associate will play an integral role in this exciting phase of the organization’s evolution.

As a critical partner to the Executive Director, the Development Associate will design and implement There With Care’s annual development strategy working closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors. S/he will be responsible for achieving fundraising goals and engaging financial donors, in-kind donors and event sponsors while being a “connector” to the larger community and key ambassador for There With Care.

There is tremendous potential for growth in this role. Ideally the Development Associate takes on the role of Development Director after one calendar year of achieving fundraising goals.

Responsibilities
Develop and implement annual development plan in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
Prospect, cultivate, and manage individual, in-kind, corporate and foundation donors. Develop and implement a stewardship program. Cultivate major gifts. Manage annual giving campaign.
Design and develop fundraising and stewardship activities, including planning and implementing There With Care’s annual benefit in partnership with the Event Director.
Manage donor data and financial reporting, including tracking and managing databases, presenting statistical analyses to Executive Director and Board, and forecasting and evaluating the potential for development activities.
Identify and write grants and proposals.
Collaborate with the Executive, Volunteer and Program Directors to meet There With Care families’ needs and to cultivate relationships with volunteers, service providers, businesses and in-kind donors.
Manage development-related communications and public relations online and in print.
Be an ambassador who can educate the larger community about There With Care’s mission and values.
Coordinate with the Website Manager and Social Media Director in regards to posting donor support, upcoming events and other pertinent PR information.
Follow established procedures and guidelines that are in place to protect the There With Care brand as it relates to marketing and public relations.

Qualifications:
At least 2+ years of professional experience in a service industry or nonprofit with demonstrated success in customer or donor-facing role.
Tangible experience establishing and cultivating relationships with individuals and corporations, actively seeking to deepen existing and forge new relationships.
Innately models the care, compassion and support reflective of There With Care’s core values.
Resourceful and creative approach to reach organizational goals and objectives.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and listening skills. Able to articulate our impact clearly and inspire and engage through compelling stories.
Able to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and projects simultaneously and skillfully with exceptional attention to detail.
Naturally takes initiative and works independently and/or collaboratively. Able to demonstrate poise, confidence and professionalism in diverse situations.
Strong aptitude and skills in managing and analyzing data. Able to think strategically about data and effectively organize and present data.
Proficiency in presentation (e.g., Powerpoint), writing (e.g., MS Word) and data management programs (e.g., Excel). CRM experience a plus (Salesforce preferred).
Familiarity with social media.
Salary Competitive and commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, exempt position.
