Position Overview:

READ Global is seeking a passionate, collaborative, creative, and self-directed Development Associate to join its small and fast-paced team at READ’s San Francisco headquarters. The Development Associate is a full time position working closely with senior leadership to assist in meeting a $3 million annual fundraising goal. Reporting to the Deputy Director, and working in close collaboration across all three affiliate teams in Bhutan, India, and Nepal, the Development Associate will support a wide range of functions integral to raising funds. Responsibilities will include overseeing individual donor communications; donation processing; supporting prospect and grant research, proposal-writing, and reporting; and implementing the Spring and End-of-Year appeals process. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and mission-driven development professional who wants to gain a breadth of experience with a growing international non-profit organization.

Responsibilities:

Manage the development and distribution of individual fundraising materials, including two annual fundraising appeals (print mailing and online), reaching all READ donors through segmented messaging.
Manage donations processing operations including entering donations in Salesforce, generating tax receipts and preparing follow up correspondence. Work with READ’s Operations Manager to manage deposits.
Support donor stewardship and relationship management.
Assist senior leadership with donor research, grant writing, and report writing for foundations, corporate funders and public sector funding opportunities.
Create presentations and manage logistics for fundraising events throughout the year.
Develop and manage donation website for READ fundraising campaigns and events.
Participate in development of an annual development strategy; track progress and continuously re-assess, re-align and report on indicators and objectives.
General administrative support for board meetings including preparation of materials and agendas.
General executive support for meetings and donor cultivation.

Qualifications/Characteristics:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the organization publicly and passionately to donors and partners.
Strong attention to detail; organized and systematic in donor follow-through and stewardship.
Experience with donor databases (Salesforce) and social media platforms strongly preferred.
Possess understanding of the current trends and best practices of fundraising, philanthropy and development.
Ability to work across diverse cultures and different time zones.
Collaborative and self-directed with ability to work with a small and efficient team.
Passionate commitment to READ Global’s mission and vision and ability to thrive in a mission-driven environment.
Bachelor’s degree required.
