Development Coordinator – Silver Spring – Pulmonary Hypertension Association

GENERAL SUMMARY POSITION:
The Development Coordinator is responsible for coordination of tasks that support fundraising activities to achieve annual established financial goals; all activities support Fund Development at PHA.

Reporting directly to and working closely with the Senior Development Officer, the Development Coordinator will play an important role in fundraising by assisting with the implementation of strategy to strengthen donor relationships to advance overall organizational fundraising that supports PHA’s organizational goals.

The Development Coordinator will work collaboratively with PHA staff, PHA local associations and other partners to identify funding to support capacity building, advocacy and mission impact work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Development Coordinator will work with all philanthropic programs – direct mail, grants, foundations, corporate, individual annual giving, donor relations, and other projects as assigned
Represent PHA at events and engages staff, donors and volunteers
Manage grant calendar, track grant proposals, reports and due dates
Manage Direct Mail calendar, tracking mailings, reports and due dates
Manage associated fundraising tasks for Development Officers
Assist with managing membership and annual giving website visibility
Assist with managing Donor Recognition and Relations Program
Conduct prospect research and assemble materials related to corporations, foundations and individual funders
Assist with drafting appeal letters and solicitation materials for annual campaigns
Coordinate with mail house and post office for appeal mailings
Maintain electronic mailing list for mailings
Respond to donor-related calls and correspondence as needed
Assist Development Officers with projects on an as-needed basis
Develop briefs and materials to equip the Development Officers and other senior staff with relevant information in preparation for meetings and discussions
Assist with special projects including coordinating presentations, disseminating information and coordinating mailings
Understand and establish Raiser’s Edge administrative systems and procedures to track, record and report; ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all prospect, granting and fundraising communications
Assist with managing on line giving and other social media fundraising tools

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
The candidate must be a fundraising professional who has a successful track record with a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience with progressive responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
Candidates must possess initiative, leadership and creative energy; be forward-thinking, organized, efficient, and comfortable working both independently and in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required; experience using Raiser’s Edge or other databases strongly preferred
Strong verbal skills and writing capabilities
Excellent relationship building and networking skills required
Very strong multitasking and organizational skills required
Demonstrated passion for fundraising and commitment to PHA’s mission

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to Senior Development Officer

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Occasional travel expected.
