Christian Outreach in Action (COA)
Fund Development Job Posting
COA, a nonreligious, nondenominational 501c3 dedicated to providing food, shelter and
clothing to homeless and impoverished individuals and families in Long Beach, is seeking a
part-time fund development professional.
Founded in 1984, COA historically relied heavily on in-kind donations to carry out its
mission. The Executive Director, working collaboratively with the Board of Directors, was
historically responsible for all fundraising. However, in recent years the agency built a solid
grant program that led to growth in both programming and fundraising. Therefore, COA is
seeking a part-time Fund Development professional who can work collaboratively with the
Board, Executive Director, grant writer and other COA team members to increase revenues
from individuals, corporations and events.
Duties will include:
Increase revenues from corporations, special events, and individuals
Secure new donors including corporations and individuals
Improve net revenue from current fund raising events, which include a gala and one
smaller event
Increase awareness of COA in the Long Beach and South Bay communities.
Qualifications:
1. At least two years experience in corporate, individual and special event fundraising,
preferably in the Long Beach community
2. An understanding of how to prospect, cultivate and acquire new donors and steward
existing donors
3. A demonstrable track record of success raising funds from corporate and individual
donors, and via special events
4. BA or BS degree preferred
