Are you an energetic and experienced Development professional looking to take a successful non-profit children’s theatre training program to new heights? If so, Studio East is the place for you! We’re seeking a dynamic Development Director to lead a comprehensive fundraising program in alignment with the strategic plan of major donor giving, corporate support, direct mail, online fundraising, events and other initiatives. Success in this position will maximize an existing base of donors and increase donor and volunteer support from our community of patrons, program participants, businesses, foundations and government representatives. The Development Director will work closely with the Board of Directors in the areas of fundraising, strategic planning and organizational leadership.
Specific Responsibilities:
Plan, direct, implement, and evaluate all fundraising efforts to obtain the budgeted contributed income and increase contributed income in future years. Approximately 40% of contributed income currently includes two existing annual fundraising events; an auction in November and a sponsorship event in May.
Develop and maintain an annual development plan including measureable outcomes, timeline and budget.
Create and maintain a strong working relationship with the Management Staff and Board of Directors so that, in partnership, sound fundraising plans, budgets, activities and strategies are developed, implemented and updated annually, as needed.
Implement and supervise a donor recognition program to regularly recognize and thank donors for all contributions.
Work closely with the Board of Directors to instruct, motivate and support their efforts to network and cultivate new and existing donors. Be accessible to, and stay in close contact with board members, and attend monthly board meetings.
Be a highly visible presence to all staff, board members, parents and supporters, so that opportunities to cultivate contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations are realized. These opportunities include theater performances, activities at public schools, Homeschool program classes, after school classes, and summer and school break camps.
Serve as an effective spokesperson for the mission and values of Studio East, emphasizing the key achievements, opportunities, needs, vision and strategies of the organization to donors, prospects, and the community at large.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years development experience
Proven track record in achieving revenue goals
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
Appreciation and understanding of children’s theater arts education highly preferred
Ideal candidate will be flexible, a self-starter, an effective time manager and able to work in a highly collaborative environment
A good sense of humor is a must!
