Development Manager – Cloud Mountain Farm Center – Everson, WA

In partnership with the Founding Director, the Development Manager will spearhead development efforts as Cloud Mountain Farm Center continues to grow. A new position in the organization, the Development Manager will have the opportunity to build the development function and work with the Board and community to develop broad reaching relationships. As the Center grows, there may be expanded leadership opportunities for the person in this position.

This position will lead the development and execution of the Center’s annual fundraising plan, working with the Founding Director, Board of Directors and Program Managers. This will include creating and executing a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors; developing and maintaining ongoing relationships with major donors; and securing support from foundations and corporations through grants and sponsorships.

This person must be extremely organized and detail oriented, excel in written and verbal communications, able to collaborate well with others as well as work independently, and be proficient with office software products.

Essential Responsibilities

o Collaborate with the Founding Director, Board of Directors and Program Managers on fundraising plans and implementation.

o Identify, define and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities.

o Spearhead and collaborate with program managers to strategize and plan a fundraising calendar. Write letters of inquiry, proposals and reports, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions. Depending on Program Managers’ expertise, some development training for staff is a desirable benefit.

o Coordinate planning for the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, manage, report and invoice for contracts and foundation grants.

o Ensure that grants & contracts awarded are recorded and acknowledged in a timely manner.

o Communicate deliverables or restrictions established by funding sources with the Founding Director and Program Managers, ensuring that all aspects of the grant or contract are met.

o Organize and maintain resource and background materials, e.g., templates, media coverage, materials produced, as well as invoices and other supporting documents for reports.

o Manage the calendar and database that correspond with development activities.

o Develop and maintain donor/funder relationships.

o Coordinate any annual fundraising appeals.

o Assist with Special Events for fundraising and friend raising purposes.

o Other related duties as assigned. We expect that this position will grow and evolve over time.

Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate has:

o Clear understanding and passion for the mission of Cloud Mountain Farm Center.

o Development, grant writing, and fundraising experience including cultivating funder or customer relationships.

o Experience with fiscal management and reporting of local, state and/or federal contracts.

o Demonstrated ability to take initiative and to work proactively and independently; ability to excel in an open office environment.

o Excellent inter-personal skills and an energy that attracts others; seeks to find and recognize the best in others, and works well in teams.

o Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to represent Cloud Mountain Farm Center in a professional manner with diverse constituencies.

o The ability to distill and articulate complex information through outstanding writing, analytic and editing skills.

o Experience as a self-starter who thrives on deadlines; can effectively manage multiple projects at a time.

o Enthusiasm about big new ideas.

o The ability to implement systems and follow-up processes in a highly organized manner.

o Demonstrated strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and database management skills, and capacity to learn new software programs as needed.

o A Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in a similar role or with similar responsibilities.

Compensation: $40,000- $45,000 depending on experience, health insurance stipend and paid time off. Position will remain open until filled. Interviews will begin September 22, 2015.
