Development Manager – Marin Agricultural Land Trust – Point Reyes Station, CA

Marin Agricultural Land Trust is a member-supported, nonprofit organization created in 1980 by a coalition of ranchers and environmentalists to permanently protect Marin County farmland. Some of the Bay Area’s most highly acclaimed dairy products, grass-fed meats and organic crops are produced on farmland protected by MALT conservation easements, which total more than 47,000 acres on 75 family farms and ranches.

The Development Manager is a full-time position primarily responsible for achieving contribution goals for MALT’s Annual Fund, providing development services, and overseeing planned giving. Additional responsibilities include managing some grant writing for non-agency grants and supervising MALT’s event registration process and analysis efforts. The Development Manager reports to the Director of Development and supervises the Annual Fund Associate, the Database Manager and the Development Associate.

Specific duties include:

Responsible for meeting the organization’s annual fund goals through a robust membership and corporate giving program.
Oversee planned giving program, including meeting with donors and prospects, manage annual mailing and donor follow up.

Research and write non-agency grant applications and grant reports in collaboration with applicable staff. Responsible for stewardship of foundation donors and prospects.
Prepare the annual development team budget, update forecasts throughout the year. Responsible for meeting budget income and expense goals.
Supervise event registration process as handled by the Development Associate. Oversee the year-end analysis of event data produced by the Development Associate
Provide oversight of the Raiser’s Edge database and storage of information in conjunction with the Database Manager.
Participate in special events and projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Evidence of ability to generate revenue growth in annual giving programs.
Experience in the direct management of staff in a goal-driven environment.
High integrity, self-directed, high-performance individual who has demonstrated initiative and achievement against goals.
Must possess excellent organizational skills, polished public manner, and ability to work well with board members, donors, volunteers, and a diverse group of staff. Excellent writing and communications skills are essential.
Deep experience with Raiser’s Edge and the management of annual giving/membership programs required. Demonstrated proficiency in Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.
