Reporting to the National Director of Development, the Director of Development oversees the Community Events program, as well as the Annual Fund program in support of the National Brain Tumor Society’s fundraising/revenue goals and constituent management (acquisition, retention, stewardship) programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversees and develops plan to increase number of community events across the US; ensuring constituent satisfaction and support are not compromised and financial goals are achieved.
Supports constituents to plan and implement community-based fundraising initiatives, including customer service, technical assistance, and reporting.
Provides constituents with materials, content, and support to achieve fundraising goals and enhance local awareness of their event.
Coordinate all internal reporting, procedures, and materials creation/content as needed for community events.
Supports external logistics and planning for community events, as needed
Maintain all necessary records, agreements, forms per IRS rules and regulations, as well as policies and procedures of the National Brain Tumor Society.
Solicit sponsors and in-kind contributions, as needed for community events, special events, and other Advancement team activities.
Attend and participate in community and special events as needed.
Develops and manages Annual Fund to attract, engage, and retain donors; achieving stated financial and program goals.
Creates communications timeline and tools for defined donor/prospect segments; leveraging key push periods, donor product offerings, and org programs to attract prospects and retain donors.
Develops and distributes regular and timely communications to all donors including impact and stewardship reports, annual report, program updates, proposals, appeals and org news.
Creates stewardship and recognition plan for all donors, partners, and sponsors.
Ensures all communications are accurate, on brand, and engage donors.
Ensures all digital/online and print donation forms, gift acknowledgement processes, reporting are accurate and user friendly – complying with all applicable IRS regulations, laws, and policies.
Works with Advancement team to develop donor/prospect segments and ensure reporting and metrics are in place to measure outcomes.
Partners with other key members of Advancement to map out Engagement cycle for all donors; supporting pipeline growth and evolution of donor support. Ensures both Annual Fund and Community events are represented and promoted.
Helps to assess risks and anticipate issues and problems related to external communications; provides proactive solutions and recommendations.
Education and Required Abilities:Four year degree preferred (marketing, communication, English) or equivalent business experience. 5 – 7 years fundraising and special events experience.Knowledgeable about fundraising/sales, recognition and retention strategies, and donor relations. Interest in mission-based or disease-based organization. Proven to recruit, motivate, and support constituents/customers. Superior writing skills for a variety of audiences, formats and tones. Ability to learn and translate complex information into lay terms. Ability to manage expenses against project/program budgets. Highly proficient in MS Office (word, excel, PowerPoint) and Google (email and calendar). Experience with CRM databases,[[http:salesforce.com|salesforce.com]] and/or Convio Luminate. Comfortable with web-based research and tools. Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral. Professional and mature with positive attitude. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of an organization, volunteers, and donors. Proactive and strong problem-solving skills. Attention to detail with strong commitment to quality and accuracy. Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; willingness to learn new skills and juggle multiple projects. Interest and commitment to the National Brain Tumor Society mission. Ability to travel to events/interact with donors up to 30%.
