DESCRIPTION
Hope for New York (HFNY) mobilizes volunteer and financial resources to organizations serving the poor and marginalized in New York City. Our vision is a city in which individuals and communities experience spiritual, personal, social and economic well-being through the demonstration of Christ’s love.

HFNY seeks a highly motivated, strategic, and detail-oriented individual to manage fundraising and development activities for the organization. The Director of Development will 1) spearhead all fund development activities, setting the overall fundraising strategy and plans, 2) develop major gifts strategy, and 3) provide leadership to the rest of the staff, providing the vision and resources needed to achieve goals. Candidate should be motivated by the opportunity to make a tangible difference by mobilizing resources to poor and marginalized neighborhoods and supporting a movement of churches and individuals dedicated to eradicating poverty in New York City.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising Strategy
Work with staff and Board of Directors to develop strategic annual fundraising plan that will enable HFNY to meet aggressive fundraising goals over the next three to five years
Manage and implement fundraising campaigns
Oversee all fundraising campaigns and appeals, including annual fund, recurring giving drive, and major fundraising events
Conduct extensive analysis and research on potential new revenue sources and opportunities
Measure campaign results and develop analytical reports on progress against monthly financial goals
Major Gifts Donor Cultivation

Develop strategic plan to cultivate major donor base
Develop and implement strategy to grow donor base by identifying new major donors
Engage donors and prospective donors via major donor cultivation events and individual meetings

Donor Services
Oversee all donor services and donor processing including receipting and acknowledgements, data collection, and analyses
Track funds secured through appeals, events, and individuals

KEY JOB RELATIONSHIPS
Executive Director: Meet weekly to provide status reports on donor impact, ongoing support
Donor and Executive Assistant: Meet weekly to provide leadership and guidance on donor-related activities
Director of Communications: Collaborate on content and vision for donor and campaign-related communications
Donors: Cultivate and manage donor relationships

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Deep commitment to serving the poor and marginalized
10+ years of professional experience required, prior donor relations experience in nonprofit setting preferred
Results driven and outcomes focused individual
Proven ability to build strong relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Proven ability to raise significant funds and reach aggressive fundraising goals for a growing organization (Increase revenue by 60% by 2018)
Self-starter, quick learner; able to work independently, thrives under pressure and takes on difficult challenges in a fast-paced setting; ability to meet deadlines
Ability to develop organization-wide fund development strategic plans with proven tactics that reflect best practices
Experience analyzing and reporting on fund development campaigns and activities
Superb communication skills (oral and written); Effectively represent HFNY externally
Resourceful and strategic problem-solving ability; takes initiative with solutions
Strong project management skills; ability to take an idea from concept to completion
High level of professionalism, maturity and integrity; maintaining tact, discretion and diplomacy with internal and external stakeholders
Flexible and adaptable; open to feedback and improvement with a must-have positive and humble attitude
Experience with Salesforce, email marketing, social media channels strongly preferred
Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred
