Job Purpose:

The Director of the Senior Produce Markets is responsible for the operations and oversight of the existing markets, as well as seeking strategic partnerships to develop new markets. The Director will seek opportunities to deepen the experience of the market, potentially creating educational programs to enhance seniors’ nutrition. The Director is also responsible for seeking ways for the program to be financially sustainable.

General Accountabilities:

Support staff and volunteers at each market
Financial reconciliation for markets
Payment of vendors
Coordinate monthly nutrition newsletter; coordinate marketing supplies/facebook page
Develop new strategic partnerships to grow number of markets
Develop funding sources to ensure financial sustainability for program
Develop curriculum to enhance shoppers experience, educating about nutrition, exercise, etc.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Strong interpersonal skills
Experience recruiting and working with volunteers
Strong organizational/administrative skilss
Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations
Creative, self-starter
Innovative and experience in program development

Working conditions and physical requirements:

Can be headquartered in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, or Marin Counties
Ability to drive frequently to market locations, from Monterey through Sonoma County
Ability to lift 20-30 pounds with ease
