About Harford Family House
In 1989, Harford Family House (HFH) was established by the nine Episcopal Churches in Harford County, Maryland to shelter homeless families with children. Its mission is to help homeless families transition into stable, permanent housing. Harford Family House started with a single housing unit and has since grown to 24 housing units and continues to expand. They are the largest provider of transitional housing for homeless families with children in the county. Harford Family House continues to position itself to meet the area’s growing and changing needs, and committed to ending homelessness for families with children in Harford County.

Executive Director
The CEO of Harford Family House is retiring and along with the Board of Directors is seeking to hire a new Executive Director to run the organization. The Executive Director will have a keen desire to develop sustainable partnerships with nonprofits, corporations, foundations, public policy leaders and individual donors to grow HFH and advance its strategy. In addition, the Executive Director will work to continue to enhance the governance and leadership capabilities of Board. In this role, the Executive Director will work with HFH’s program teams to deliver programmatic activities that fulfill HFH’s mission. The broad objectives for the Executive Director are as follows:

To provide leadership in evolving and implementing HFH’s organizational vision, mission and strategic priorities.
To support the development of a vibrant organizational future by continuing to cultivate, expand and make the best use of HFH’s Board, staff, and volunteers.
To continue to expand the financial base of HFH, pursuing philanthropic funding sources and other creative sources of revenue for the organization.
To retain, attract and manage a team of professional staff who possess the capacity to fulfill the organization’s mission.
The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day business of HFH. The Executive Director will work closely with the CEO and other key staff to develop and implement the organization’s vision and strategic plan. This role requires extensive leadership, communication, and fundraising skills. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic professional with the ability to grow an organization, expand its funding base, manage staff, and communicate HFH’s vision and goals to public-private sector partners, policy-makers and the public.

Qualifications & Attributes
The Executive Director will ideally possess the following professional qualifications and personal attributes:

Professional Qualifications:
A capacity to lead, inspire and mobilize people – particularly staff, volunteers, and other supporters – in advancing the vision of HFH to end homelessness for families with children in Harford County.
A management style that is goal oriented, but flexible; that respects the capabilities and independence of staff, but provides them with a clear sense of direction.
Demonstrated experience in developing and administering a comprehensive fundraising program including individual donor, corporate and foundation solicitation.
Experience building effective networks, partnerships, and/or coalitions.
Financial and business acumen.
The highest level of personal and professional integrity and quality standards.
Strong work ethic and willingness to travel throughout the county, including weekend and evening engagements.
Bachelor’s degree required with at least five years progressive leadership experience.

Compensation
Compensation for the Executive Director includes a competitive base salary that is commensurate with experience.
