Job description
District and state relationships
• Develop and maintain productive working relationships with district and charter leaders, staff, and other key stakeholders
• Ensure annual resident placement targets are met through regular communication and progress reports
• Ensure an effective relationship with state partners; maintain Urban Teachers’ license approval areas through data reporting and participation in state-sponsored events
• Identify opportunities with our partners for Urban Teachers to provide strategic support linked to our core vision, beyond programmatic goals
• Oversee MOU creation and invoicing of Urban Teachers’ partners

Build and manage an outstanding team
• Hire the inaugural Dallas team, oversee onboarding and goal-setting
• Manage a high-performing team that provides direct support to residents and teachers in the site
• Provide the necessary support and professional development to ensure that Urban Teachers meets site goals
• Grow the internal team and resident/teacher cohorts in line with Urban Teachers’ culture and core values
• Effectively manage the site budget Data collection
• Communicate with school and district-based partners about Urban Teachers’ accountability expectations
• Partner with Urban Teachers’ Director of Performance and Evaluation and program staff to collect data from the field in support of all accountability gates

Cohort quality and relationships
• Execute the program across all goal areas, including Urban Teachers’ resident and teacher placement and support; host teacher selection and support; and principal communication
• Ensure excellent communications between residents, teachers, and Urban Teachers’ staff; build a highly- responsive system for proactively addressing all resident and teacher issues
• Conduct regular resident reviews and coordinate necessary support with the Director of Curriculum and Professional Development
• Provide regular opportunities for residents and teachers to come together in support of a cohort-wide vision and team
• Lead support for fellows years 1-3
• Lead resident and fellow terminations

School-based implementation and relationships
• Serve as the primary point person to school-based staff, including principals, administrative leadership teams, lead host teachers, and host teachers
• Partner with Urban Teachers’ program team to ensure explicit expectations of all resident and teacher expectations
• Develop quality communications mechanisms to ensure that school staff are fully aware and supportive of resident expectations; anticipate and address field-based issues with a high degree of responsiveness and follow-through

Support resident recruitment, selection, and onboarding
• Provide support to the Chief Growth Officer and the Director of Recruitment in resident recruitment efforts
• Participate fully in resident selection days
• Partner with the Chief Growth Officer and the Director of Recruitment to ensure a smooth resident transition to the region, and in attainment of resident retention goals

Stakeholder engagement
• Build a regional advisory board that ensures ongoing buy-in of Urban Teachers’ core programmatic and policy efforts, and increases Urban Teachers’ stakeholder base of support throughout the region
• Help to grow Urban Teachers’ funding support throughout the region through cultivation of individual, corporate, and foundation donors
• Participate in speaking engagements and other opportunities to expand Urban Teachers’ impact

All of the duties described occur in a continuous improvement environment, with constant analysis of what’s working, what’s not, and how to improve our efforts.

We are seeking highly driven individuals who can thrive in a fast-paced urban setting. Successful candidates will have a deep belief in Urban Teachers’ mission and also have the following skills and qualifications:
• A track record of effective management (minimum two years)
• Proven ability to set and meet high goal targets
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to inspire others
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Experience with project management, planning, and implementation
• Evidence of sound judgment and ability to problem solve
• Minimum of two years of school-based experience preferred
• Master’s degree in a related field is preferred
