Position Overview:
page1image4384 Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly San Francisco (LBFE-SF) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to relieving isolation and loneliness in the elderly community by bringing them the happiness & joy of friendship from volunteers of all ages within our community. LBFE-SF seeks an enthusiastic Executive Director/Development Director to be responsible for overall management of the organization and delivery of its mission. This leadership position works closely with the Board of Directors to ensure effective and efficient operations of the organization.
The Executive Director/Development Director will be responsible for achievement of LBFE-SF’s annual budget, program goals, & other mutually established goals. Candidates should have 5 years of experience as a director or as a development professional; be compassionate & supportive of the cause; have proven fundraising success; be comfortable & confident when approaching high-profile/high-influence leaders; demonstrate strong leadership skills including strategic planning & thinking; possess strong communication skills, both written & verbal; be self-motivated, creative & highly organized. Experience with aging populations is preferred. The ability to work some weekends & holidays is essential.
Specific responsibilities include:
(60%) Fund Development & Communications:
Develop & execute a broad & robust income strategy that includes individual, corporate & foundation support.
Be the principle spokesperson for the agency, representing LBFE’s programs & point of view to organizations, the general public & elected officials.
Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals.
Establish & maintain working relationships & cooperative arrangements with community groups & organizations.
(20%) Program Development, Management & Administration:
1. Ensure that the organization has a long-range strategic plan that achieves its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.
Provide leadership in developing program, organizational & financial plans with the Board of Directors & staff. Carry out plans & policies authorized by the board.
Promote active & broad participation by volunteers in all areas of the organization’s work.
Maintain official records & documents, & ensure compliance with federal,state & local regulations, as well as the Charities Review Council.
Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments & trends in the field of aging in place.
Actively participate in all events & programs
(20%) Budget and Finance:
1. Be responsible for developing & maintaining sound financial practices.
Work with the staff & Board in preparing a budget; ensure that the organization operates within budget guidelines.
Ensure that adequate funds are available to permit the organization to carry out its work.
