The Executive Director is responsible for end-to-end operational and financial aspects of the organization and is essentially the chief executive, reporting to the Board of Directors. Key functional responsibilities include:
Leadership & Management
Provide leadership in accordance with the FEAT’s values and mission, including a
demonstrated ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and
cultures
Develop & implement a strategic three-year plan
Develop clear and comprehensive administrative systems and procedures to maximize the use of resources in the delivery of high-quality services that fulfill FEAT’s mission
Establish clear operation performance objectives and recruit, hire, train and supervise staff in their delivery
Select and manage contract and outsourced services
Create and maintain an office environment that is upbeat and positive as well as challenging and inspiring to the staff and volunteers.
Mentor staff members and provide support and training to help support their success.
Fiscal accountability
Maintain highest ethical standards in management of all funds; complying fully with Professional Standards as outlined in the Association of Fundraising Professionals Principles and Standards of Professional Practice
Oversee Insurance claims for clinical program
Monitor and report to the Board on the finances in accordance with state and federal guidelines governing 501(c)3 organizations
Monitor insurance policy and Medicaid/Medicare regulations to ensure FEAT effectively maximizes program revenue while overseeing timely, effective insurance claims management
Oversee HIPAA compliance of impacted (clinical) programs.
Resource development
Work with the Board of Directors and the staff to ensure successful strategies are
developed to meet the short- and long- term funding needs of the organization,
including but not limited to grants, donor campaigns, fundraising events and planned giving
Develop and cultivate strong relationships with current and potential individual and foundation donors and community members, connecting them with the organization’s mission and vision
Work to ensure the continued fiscal health by expanding current fundraising efforts, broadening and diversifying current funding streams to ensure a balanced revenue base
Community Partnerships and Public Relations
Represent the FEAT mission to the Washington community as an advocate for support services to families impacted by autism
Engage in regular speaking engagements or appearances as the public face promoting awareness and understanding of the needs of children and create awareness of FEAT programs
Participate in community events, organization and outreach events
Maintain relationships with key individual and organization networks to advocate for FEAT programs
Interface with other agencies to foster greater inter-agency collegiality and
professionalism and establish strategic collaborations and partnerships with other
nonprofit organizations, government agencies and corporations in Washington state
Membership Development, Marketing and Communications
Promote FEAT to affected families and referring providers through events, media, and one-on-one networking. Tell the FEAT story effectively and with passion.
Develop a strategic marketing plan to grow membership and full utilization of FEAT programs
Manage the creation of appropriate marketing/outreach materials including collateral, advertising, media publicity, website, social media, etc.
Board of Directors Stewardship
Work closely with the Board Chair, the Board of Directors and Board committees to evaluate organization effectiveness, identify strategic opportunities, and determine
policy direction
Ensure that Board members have accurate and current information about the
organization via a clear, concise monthly board report
Identify issues and decisions that need Board direction and communicate them to the board in an effective and timely manner
Assist in Board recruitment, orientation and retention
Summary of Qualifications
The ideal candidate has experience running all aspects of a nonprofit or small business. The Executive Director will be responsible for the success of the organization, both in its effectiveness in serving families and ability to expand services in a fiscally responsible manner.

While no one person may possess all of the qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate will exhibit many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes and experiences:
Seasoned leadership skills developed through a minimum of eight years of progressive experience managing all aspects of operations; Ability to lead programs and organizations with balanced compassion and a practical, strategic business sense; demonstrated budget development experience and the ability to
interpret, forecast and manage financial statements;
Ability to comfortably manage multiple competing priorities with finesse;
Enthusiasm for the mission and community;
A track record for nonprofit fundraising and development with grant writing experience; a commitment to maintaining current funders, a passion for cultivating new donors, an ability to generate new revenue streams;
Proven track record and commitment to mentoring and coaching staff; strong supervision skills and a management style that embodies respect, teamwork, and collaboration from a diversified and dedicated staff;
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and experience in dealing with the public, including public presentations and group facilitation;
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect diverse audiences to the mission and vision of FEAT;
Awareness of issues and challenges faced by families affected by autism.
