Executive Director for Major Medical Association – Jaffe Management Inc – New York, NY

Jaffe Management, a 12 person association management firm in New York City is seeking someone to serve as the Executive Director of a non-profit membership association in the medical field. This individual will serve as the Chief Staff Officer under the direction of the Volunteer President and the Board of Directors. He or she will have the full authority and responsibility for managing the association and all programs within the established guidelines and is responsible for all administrative and program responsibilities outlined below as well as all other duties required. This person will have one staff member as a direct report within the company.

Overall Leadership and Strategic Planning

Assist leadership in carrying out the organization’s mission
Assist President & President-Elect as requested
Leadership training programs/opportunities and Committee/board structuring and operations
Monitor and enforce the Society’s policies and procedures f. Prepare management reports for the Board

Event Planning

Oversee and execute association meetings throughout the year
Oversee/participate in on-site management of all events
On-site management at meetings and conferences, including Council meeting and assisting staff, volunteers and attendees as needed

Volunteer Management/Governance

Work closely with Board Leadership
Assure organization’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Serve as liaison to selected committees
Oversee the planning and administration of all Board Meetings
Keep officers and directors informed of the operations of the organization
Work with association president and appropriate volunteers and staff to set meeting agendas
Review meeting minutes completed by team members.
Execute the decisions of the Council

Financial Activities

Prepare and monitor annual budget w/Director of Finance
Review accounting reports and monthly financials
Manage long/short-term investments w/Director of Finance and assist auditor as needed
Assist Treasurer as needed

Legislative Activities

Assist/Oversee Organization’s Legislative Activities in conjunction with outside legislative support

Fundraising & Development:

Works with leaders to ensure effective solicitation of funds industry and other interested parties
Establish plan for development, submission and reconciliation of grants from industry and other sources

Membership

Develop member relations, respond to inquiries from the membership, maintain and improve channels of communication
Assist with member inquiries and maintain strong relationships with the membership

Communications

Review/input all other communication items as necessary
Develop communications channels through newsletters, emails, and social media
Oversee and maintain website on a regular basis

Office is located in midtown. Benefits include Health, Dental and Eye Insurance, four weeks’ vacation, and a casual dress work environment.

Occasional weekend and evening work is involved.

Bachelors degree required and minimum of seven years related industry experience in association management, nonprofit management, or volunteer management
