Executive Director – Greater Miami Youth Symphony

Greater Miami Youth Symphony seeks a dynamic executive director. An established community institution since 1958, GMYS currently serves over 700 young musicians ranging from elementary to high school in four orchestras, two bands, beginning “pre-starter” instrument classes, Chamber Music program, Master Classes, and a comprehensive summer camp program. The regular season extends from September through May and includes weekly rehearsals culminating in performances in beautiful venues such as Miami’s Arsht Center. GMYS has travelled to Ireland, Italy, and New York City, and is planning a visit to Cuba. Its alumni have gone on to attend prestigious institutions such as Yale, Juilliard and NYU. The Executive Director’s duties include: financial management (budgeting, reporting and oversight); office management supervising administrative staff; scheduling rehearsals, classes, concerts, and camps; contracting; coordination with artistic director, teachers and conductors; communication with parents; supervision of staff; writing grant proposals, grant reporting, and administering grants; other fundraising; public relations and marketing; and working closely with governing board. Candidates must have significant experience in management of nonprofit entities, including budgeting, supervision of staff, grant writing, and marketing.
