Summary:
The mission of the Joyful Heart Foundation is to transform society’s response to sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse, support survivors’ healing, and end this violence forever. Through our healing programs, Joyful Heart works with survivors and the professionals who serve them to provide sustainable tools for a holistic approach to trauma recovery. Our education programs are turning up the volume on the conversation around these difficult issues, changing attitudes, and helping lift the shame and stigma that lock so many survivors in silence and allow this violence to persist. Through our advocacy initiatives we are reforming and advancing policies and legislation on—the local, state, and federal levels—to ensure justice for survivors. The cornerstone of our policy work is the elimination of the rape kit backlog.
