GENERAL SUMMARY
The Executive Director will, carry out the mission of the National Kidney Foundation by successfully raising funds, engage leadership volunteers and influential community members, and ensure that program goals are met in their designated region.
The Executive Director works closely with the Interim Vice President, Field Services local and national staff and key stakeholders, to attain the income necessary to achieve the region’s budgetary goals and mission of the NKF. This relationship should be characterized by effective communication, a positive attitude toward the growth of NKF, and the achievement of its mission through mutual understanding of goals and development objectives.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Fund-raising
Responsible for implementing a comprehensive, year round fund-raising program that meets targeted goals:
Identifies corporate sponsors, family foundations and general supporters; cultivates recruits and stewards these prospects.
Oversees major giving program.
Oversees Annual Author’s Luncheon and other fundraising events.
Secures in-kind sponsors to donate services and products.
Identifies special event corporate recruitment leadership within the territory.
Helps execute grant writing for both special events and programs.
Works with the Division staff on grant proposals, including government, corporate and family foundations.
Fosters relationships with the community to garner support for programs and services.
Manages and oversees localized special events.
Advisory Board Development
Responsible for overseeing the board and future board development.
Recruits and stewards volunteer leaders for the board.
Works closely with the board chair, schedules board meetings and works with the leadership volunteers to expand as necessary.
Fiscal Oversight
Responsible for the successful fiscal management of the region:
Participates in finalizing regional budget in collaboration with local and national staff and key stakeholders.
Ensures that all local financial reporting and records are processed and maintained in a timely and legal manner and in accordance with all NKF accounting procedures.

Supporting the Division Program staff on their execution of core NKF programs locally:
Early Detection Screenings
Continuing Medical Education Programs
Patient Conferences
Medical Updates and Symposiums
Regional Planning
Responsible for the formulation of a regional plan that will ensure financial success:
Identifies, cultivates and recruits volunteers, companies and organizations to participate in NKF.
Creates event and program time lines and calendars for all activities.
Managerial
Directly supervises the development staff in the region by providing guidance, training and coaching.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum 8 years work- related fundraising experience in the nonprofit sector (voluntary healthcare experience preferred).
Experience in obtaining major grants and major gifts.
Experience working with volunteers and board of directors.
Experience recruiting corporate sponsors and partners.
Demonstrated competence in planning, budgeting, forecasting and volunteer motivation.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Excellent interpersonal, organization and managerial skills.
Fluent in Word applications.
