Field Director – Renew Oregon – Portland, OR

OVERVIEW

Renew Oregon is a campaign to move our state away from dirty, polluting energy to a clean energy economy. This is a multi-year effort to advance policy and significantly increase public support for addressing climate change. We can spur national action on climate change through state and regional policies that align environmental and economic objectives.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

As Field Director, you will be part of the core team managing and implementing a highly ambitious plan to build the climate movement in Oregon. The Field Director will report directly to the Campaign Director and oversee the campaign’s base building and leadership development programs that engage grassroots volunteers and leaders statewide. Ideally, you are a highly motivated and politically driven individual and will have a passion for progressive issues and an investment in positive change in our environment and beyond. Core duties include:

Grow the base of volunteers, turning them into leaders through a systematic recruitment, training and leadership development program that you design and implement.
Hire and train staff across the state to manage field offices and build volunteer engagement. Establish a strong, professional culture within the team focused on innovation, accountability, specific goals, and a shared sense of purpose.
Plan and oversee action-oriented events and activities that draw in new supporters.
Work with Campaign Director and research team to test and refine base building and public education strategies.
Work with your team to engage with diverse communities through outreach, tabling and public speaking; and collaborate with partner groups to engage their members in the campaign.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Proven record of defining and meeting statewide benchmarks for voter contact; volunteer recruitment, grassroots engagement and GOTV.
Experience developing, training and empowering volunteers to lead in a campaign.
Experience recruiting, hiring, training and managing staff.
Record of building and managing coalition of diverse and unlikely allies – and motivating real, measurable engagement and participation from that coalition.
Proficiency in VAN, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs.
A commitment to data and a love of people.
Low-ego and high-output. Has fun working hard with a hard-working crew.
