Field Trip Facilitator – Zimmer Children’s Museum – Los Angeles

The Zimmer Children’s Museum seeks a high-energy and dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal, classroom management and presentation skills, and a genuine interest in working with young children. The role of the Field Trip Facilitator is to provide a rich and memorable play and learning experience for all Field Trip guests, including students, teachers, and adult chaperones. Field Trips are scheduled for 1-2 school groups of up to 75 students each day, every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9:20am – 1:00pm. Each field trip visit will include a brief welcome, a review of ways to play in the museum, scheduled rotating museum play, and an option to add-on an Enrichment Experience and to have lunch on-site.

Supervisor: Associate Director of Play & Learning

Responsibilities:
Greet and enthusiastically welcome each school group as they arrive at the museum for field trips
Clearly communicate and build rapport with teachers and chaperones during visits
Facilitate Enrichment Experiences and maintain inventory and replenish Enrichment Experience materials weekly
During museum play, engage students in exploration of museum exhibits and with helping to restore props
Assist with setting up and resetting rooms for Field Trip and general program uses
Ensure the safety of all guests, and follow museum safety and emergency protocol as needed
Maintain clear communication with Visitor Services Team (including Front Desk and Floor Staff) throughout Field Trip visit to ensure the harmonious play experience of general museum guests and school groups.
Research and develop, in conjunction with Education Team, new activities for Enrichment Experiences that are developmentally appropriate and in alignment with Common Core Standards
Maintain a positive and fun attitude!
Opportunities to support other museum programs may be available depending on skill, experience and availability

Requirements:
The Field Trip Facilitator must be available Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:45am – 1:30pm, with additional flexible hours throughout the week.

Must be at least 18 years or older. Must pass background check.

Additional requirements needed to perform the duties of this job include the ability to walk, stand, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, sit, run, talk and hear, and ability to lift and/or move objects up to 20 lbs.
