DESCRIPTION
About Restless Development
Restless Development is an agency for youth-led development. Through 10 global hubs, our work is delivered by young people, for young people, giving them the skills and resources to deal with the main issues facing their communities and countries. Tackling unemployment and sexual rights, supporting young people to have a voice, and enabling youth leadership at the heart of development, Restless Development programs are genuinely life-changing.
It isn’t just our work on the ground that makes us special. There are 1.8 billion young people in the world. Through our policy work targeting decision makers on a global level, we are ensuring that young people’s voices are being heard, not only in their local communities but all the way up to world leaders. Together, Restless Development and millions of young people are delivering development, influencing decision makers and collecting evidence to inform partners, furthering our work towards a just and sustainable world.
Restless Development USA
We are a registered US non-profit with 501(c)(3) status, working in collaboration with other Restless
Development Hubs around the world. We are an essential strategic hub for the global agency, and work on policy influence, investment partnerships and thought leadership and technical assistance on youth-led development. Launched 6 years ago in New York, the US Hub has steadily grown and is now in an exciting era of increasing growth, influence and opportunity. In that time, we have taken on a leadership role to support the strengthening of Restless Development’s work with girls and young women, and on gender equality. We are looking for a passionate and hardworking Gender Advocacy Manager to grow the global agency’s capacity to be gender transformative – ensuring our work is purposefully working to end gender inequality.
The Gender Advocacy Manager will support the development of emerging policy and advocacy across the organization, coordinate specific influencing and advocacy opportunities and ensure a coherent approach for advocacy through key networks and coalitions. The Manager will also work closely with the other policy/advocacy focused staffed based in London and our other hubs. Together they will work to link global policy-making with our active campaigns around key youth development priorities, ensuring there is a gender lens applied to our global advocacy work. This will be done by building relationships at the United Nations and other key influencing spaces and connecting national-level advocacy work to influence what is happening in those spaces. The Manager will work to connect up what we’re doing on gender advocacy across the agency and link it into ongoing forums. A key focus of this role will be managing a pilot project to support youth-led advocacy and accountability for gender equality.
We are seeking a values driven candidate with experience influencing the policy and practice of governments and institutions through campaigning, advocacy and policy development with a focus on gender related issues preferred. Experience planning, developing and managing projects or events is also a must.
