Graduate Programs Manager – School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences

DESCRIPTION
The School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences (IAS) has an outstanding opportunity for a Graduate Programs Manager (Counseling Services Coordinator, Grade 8).
The Graduate Programs Manager oversees academic services and acts as lead adviser to prospective and current students for 3 distinct programs with a total enrollment of 90 students: the MA in Cultural Studies, MA in Policy Studies, and MFA in Creative Writing & Poetics. Responsibilities include day-to-day management of the annual cycle of recruitment and outreach, admissions and enrollment, and academic advising in support of student retention, program completion, and student academic and professional success for a diverse student population.

Responsibilities include Academic Advising (Current Students); Prospective Student Communication, Recruitment, and Admission; and Program, Curriculum, and Operations Management.

Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, Education or a related field.
· At least four years of advising experience in higher education or closely-related, student-facing student services experience.
· Demonstrated facility in working with and promoting the success of student populations strongly represented in IAS and UWB: first-generation, under-represented minority, veteran, immigrant and international students.
· Demonstrated ability to form productive working relationships with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to providing excellent student services in a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation.
· Strong interpersonal skills, including confidence, sensitivity, and discretion to work with students, faculty, staff, and administrators
· Strong communication skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse constituencies
· Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and manage heavy workload with frequent interruptions
· Excellent project management skills. Attentive to detail, able to track and manage multiple tasks/projects to conclusion, and able to relate these to larger program activities and goals
· Demonstrated problem-solving, decision-making, and collaboration skills.
· Works effectively as a team member and independently.
· Proven ability to handle confidential information discreetly
