As the nation’s oldest legal organization focusing on the civil rights of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Asian Law Caucus is a leader in defending the interests of low-income immigrants. Since 1972, Advancing Justice – ALC has litigated high-profile cases and provided an array of services including community education, advocacy, and direct client representation. Our current program areas include national security and civil rights, immigration, housing rights, workers’ rights, voting rights, and criminal justice reform. Advancing Justice – ALC works closely with our Advancing Justice partners in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C., to strengthen and elevate a national API voice for civil rights.
Position Summary: Advancing Justice – ALC is currently seeking a dynamic, team-oriented fundraising development professional to join our Development department responsible for raising roughly $5 million annually. Primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, all aspects of the grant process to include researching, identifying, developing, and responding to new private grant opportunities. Also responsible for grants management of foundation and corporate grants including reports and renewals. Work is performed under direction of the Director of Development with most performed in close relationship with program personnel for content creation.
Responsibilities:
● Generate revenues for agency programs and services through timely submission of well-researched, well-written and well-documented fundraising proposals.
● Generate proposals and supporting documents in response to solicitations.
● Research and identify new private foundation and corporate funding prospects.
● Maintain and implement funding calendar activities, including outreach and cultivation activities.
● Write comprehensive reports to all institutional funders.
● Engage with program officers under the direction of the Development Director as needed.
● Provide administrative support related to the grant process.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English or related field
3 years proven success securing and sustaining leadership in funding portfolio in nonprofit setting
Creative and strong technical know-how writer for grants proposals and reports. Ability to produce high quality products within tight time constraints and under pressure
Highly organized, tracks institutional grants pipeline and meets deadlines
Ability to work in collaboration across teams and with high independence
Competent computer skills with MS office, Salesforce experience a plus
Strong commitment to social justice and civil rights
