Harm Reduction Capacity Building Coordinator – Harm Reduction Coalition

DESCRIPTION
Purpose: Coordination and provision of harm reduction related capacity building training and technical assistance services to community based organizations and health departments.

Description:
In collaboration with the Capacity Building Manager, based in the Oakland office, this position will support the implementation of harm reduction policy and programming primarily for California based programs in Oakland and San Francisco by providing Capacity Building Services (CBS) and training, as well as support the development of the local Harm Reduction Training Institute (“Training Institute”). The positon may also include delivery across the state and on a national basis alongside the rest of the CBS team.

Primary Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the Capacity Building Service Manager and HRC CBS department, coordinate the delivery of trainings and CBS including securing consultants, contracts, and planning calendars.
In collaboration with Capacity Building Services Manager and HRC CBS department, develop and deliver harm reduction training curricula, technical assistance and CBS as required, including classroom & distance learning, for a range of community based agencies, treatment providers and health departments.
In collaboration with Capacity Building Services Manager and HRC CBS department, recruit and vet facilitators/consultants to support training delivery.
In collaboration with Capacity Building Services Manager and HRC CBS department, monitor funding contract deliverables to ensure compliance.
Develop partnerships and relationships with both state and local health departments and community organizations in order to support the delivery of the program.
Conduct assessment of harm reduction training needs of partner agencies as needed.
Maintain close collaboration with funding contract managers in implementation and provision of training delivery and capacity building assistance.
In collaboration with Capacity Building Services Manager and HRC CBS department, coordinate logistics for trainings as needed (e.g. supplies and materials, securing space).
In collaboration with Capacity Building Services Manager and HRC CBS department, ensure all evaluation and reporting requirements are met.
In collaboration with Special Projects Coordinator and CBS Team, promote trainings and events using social media, other communications platforms, and targeted outreach. Preparation of promotional materials as needed (e.g. flyers, brochures, etc.).
In collaboration with Special Projects Coordinator and CBS Team, coordinate online training and capacity building services events, webinars, and other distance learning activities.
Attend HRC staff and program meetings.
National HRC Conference – Assist in coordination of conference activities, including but not limited to identification of speakers.
Attend conferences, career and internship fairs, and other events to promote HRC.
Contribute to grant writing opportunities that will help support the growth and development of the HRC CBS department.
Contribute to materials production, newsletter, training activities and special projects as needed.
Additional duties as necessary.

Required skills & experience:
Experience in training curricula design, development, and delivery
Experience facilitating trainings and CBS
Prior knowledge of harm reduction, drug user health and (LGBTQ) health issues
Experience with event coordination
Familiarity with marginalized populations and established commitment to cultural diversity and cultural competence
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Familiarity with current technology: computers, networks and software, including Windows XP Professional programs such as Microsoft Suite, Outlook and databases such as MS Access, WordPress, FileMaker Pro
Ability to prioritize, work semi-independently, and manage multiple responsibilities
Highly detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to meet deadlines
Experience with online learning and learning management systems
Exceptional writing, editing, and oral communications skills
Working knowledge of digital communications
Experience developing web and email-based communications and engagement strategies

Supervisory Responsibilities: Program volunteers, interns and consultants.

Travel: Position requires moderate travel = approximately 14 days per year
