AGENCY DESCRIPTION
Based in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District, the Vietnamese Youth Development Center (VYDC) is a multi-service agency offering services in employment and leadership training, education support and advocacy as well as individual and family counseling for immigrant and low-income youth and their families. The Center’s programs help to divert youth by providing constructive activities that impact their world increase their individual and cultural pride as well as build community spirit. Founded over 38 years ago, VYDC serves over 500 young people of all background each year.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Program Manager is responsible for the management and leads the Center’s Health and Wellness programs and service strategy. This position is responsible for development and implementation of expanding health and wellness for VYDC funding and other sources. The Program Manager will supervise VYDC’s health and wellness program staff and is responsible for implementing contract requirements associated with grants. The Program Manger takes a leadership role in developing health prevention and wellness promotion for VYDC programming and works with other members of the VYDC management team to ensure service-delivery based on the values inherent in VYDC’s mission and vision.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the strategic and annual planning for the department.
Leads the implementation of health and wellness programs ensuring clients receive high quality service.
Responsible for program evaluation, data collection, integrity and funder compliance.
Prepare internal reports and program reports for funders.
Accountable for the outcomes and results of the program through monitoring.
Participate in the developing and the managing of the programs’ budgets.
Responsible for cultivating strong relationships with government agencies, health care providers, education, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders.
Participate in the cultivation of programs’ funding sources, and support grant proposal development and submission.
Responsible for supervising program staff and ensures high quality work experiences from staff.
Oversee staff recruitment, orientation, training and development, performance management, conflict resolution and performance evaluation.
Provide case management services to client onsite, assessment and other required program activities.
Supports agency wide activities as needed to meet the program and organization mission.
Provide information and support to the VYDC Board as needed.
Participate in agency-wide strategic and operational planning and overall agency administration.
KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a human services field, Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years of work experience with high-risk youth, truant youth, people involved in the justice system, monolingual immigrant and refugee youth, adults and/or their families with behavioral health needs.
At least one (1) year supervisory experience and project management are desirable.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with quality assurance practices and reporting to public and private funders.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines and objectives.
Strong problem solving skills and the ability to make sound and timely decisions are required.
Excellent customer service and relationship management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, patience, diplomacy, and tact.
Maintain professional standards of performance, demeanor and appearance including the ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team, and manage multiple projects in a very fast-paced, performance-oriented environment.
Bilingual in a Southeast Asian language is a plus.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with a diverse staff and clientele.
