POSITION OVERVIEW:
The High School Programs Specialist works closely with the Director of College Access & Readiness Programs and his/her team, facilitating and monitoring all aspects of CHCI’s Ready to Lead program for high school students.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Has primary responsibility for coordinating, recruiting, and providing on-site management for six yearly Ready to Lead workshops held across the United States. Requires a minimum of six (5) weekends of travel per year.
Manages logistics associated with the Ready to Lead events held at multiple locations across the United States, including identification of venue, local school outreach, travel arrangements, and event management.
Participates in and coordinates outreach for the purpose of recruiting candidates for CHCI programs and increasing the visibility of Ready to Lead. Identifies and creates national partnerships with programs that promote high school retention, college preparation, and youth outreach programs.
Responsible for the recruitment of adult mentors to participate in events. This includes developing and managing national partnerships with Hispanic affinity groups, local chambers of commerce, and student volunteer programs.
Maintains working relationships with alumni, colleges and educational organizations and serves as liaison to CHCI alumni, program sponsors, elected officials, advisory board, board of directors, staff and recognized Latino organizations and handles all matters related to their participation in the Ready to Lead workshops.
Evaluates and revises program curriculum, including financial literacy, college planning, and leadership development workshops. Coordinates presenters and updates presentations.
Develops, updates and circulates Ready to Lead outreach materials and informational tools for students, parents, and university partners
Responsible for tracking and reporting of data collected from program participants for funding and measurement purposes. Is accountable for preparing event closure reports and handling post-event administrative tasks.
Handles all administrative duties of CHCI’s Ready to Lead program including shipping, hiring of vendors, processing payments, filing, mailing, copying, and phone and mail inquiries. Prepares memoranda and announcements, composes letters and routine correspondence, and researches information.
Assists with R2L website maintenance and Facebook page in addition to drafting monthly e-news summaries to increase opportunities for outreach, news dissemination and continued communication with program participants
Works side by side with the Strategic Communications and Events team in ensuring accurate drafts of press releases, outreach to media outlets, compiling media clips and handling celebrity spokespersons.
Tracks and implements the Ready to Lead program budget.
Collaborates closely with the Associate Manager of High School Leadership Programs to provide outreach and planning support for CHCI’s R2L NextGen summer program for high school leaders. Involvement will include direct oversight for 6-7 of the program’s target regions.
Supports the R2L NextGen summer programs including curriculum planning, leading small and large group activities, interacting closely with students and parents, and coordinating logistics.
Practices effective organization for administrative tasks. Utilizes planning checklists and procedures to ensure all deliverables are met for each program.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience with leadership programs for youth/students.
Experience with youth education programs and/or event planning preferred as well as 2 years of administrative experience.
Excellent logistical and organizational skills required. Strong attention to detail and ability to balance multiple projects at one time a must.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Bilingual – Professional English and conversational Spanish skills required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A professional appearance and telephone manner is essential.
Strong team player; works well under pressure
Must be a self-starter who is able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Must be creative and flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities.
Demonstrated commitment to helping Hispanic youth.
