DESCRIPTION
SV@Home is the voice for affordable housing in Santa Clara County, advocating for policies, programs, land use, and funding that respond to the South Bay’s housing crisis. Our vision is a community where all people have access to a safe, stable, and affordable home.
SV@Home is seeking a passionate, well-organized, self-motivated individual to support its policy work. The Housing Policy Manager will report to the Deputy Director. Duties and responsibilities of this position include:
Policy and Advocacy
• Work with local officials to gain support for affordable housing policies, programs, and projects
• Testify at public meetings and participate, as needed, on task forces and committees.
• Manage roundtables that engage elected officials, city staff, developers, and partners in policy conversations
• Develop position papers, policy briefs, coalition letters, and advocacy tools.
• Provide support to link Santa Clara County to other affordable housing, social equity, and smart growth initiatives in the Bay Area.
Education and Information
• Participate in developing and implementing campaigns to educate the public and elected officials about affordable housing.
• Manage events that provide educational and networking opportunities for SV@Home members, including leading Santa Clara County’s Affordable Housing Week.
Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• A minimum of four years of experience preferably in affordable housing, community development, or public policy advocacy.
• Must possess excellent communications skills including outstanding writing and public speaking skills and familiarity with social media platforms.
• Must have a start-up attitude, be well organized at handling multiple tasks, work well in a team environment, and have the ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Organizing/campaign experience a plus.
