Individual Giving Officer – Museum of History & Industry

Position Description:
The Individual Giving Officer is responsible for the overall design, management, and work of the Individual Giving program to meet fundraising goals. This position administers and oversees multiple mail appeals (print and electronic) including donor acquisition, and creates communication and stewardship strategies for donors and prospects to increase engagement. This position is a member of the Development Department.

Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Director of Development and other staff to develop annual appeal strategies that are integrated with MOHAI’s Strategic Plan, museum-wide programs, events, and other initiatives.
Develop, lead, and execute a comprehensive individual giving program using data-driven strategies to increase average gift amounts, convert members to donors, acquire new donors, and incorporate best practices for fundraising.
Work with the Director of Development to develop, promote, and execute a planned giving program.
Conduct, analyze, and utilize prospect research to identify potential major donors.
Manage and motivate prospect management work of Executive Director, Development Committee, and Board of Trustees.
Collaborate with the Membership Program Manager to encourage members to become donors.
Design and work with Donor Events Manager to implement donor appreciation, cultivation, and stewardship events for $1,000+ donors.
Attend board Development Committee meetings and provide content.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or related professional experience; fundraising certification preferred.
Minimum three to five years of demonstrated success and comfort stewarding and soliciting individual donors in person.
Must possess knowledge of fundraising principles and best practices for building and maintaining relationships with individual donors.
Experience in setting and meeting fundraising goals.
Maintain a professional demeanor with dedication to excellent donor relations.
Aptitude for the management and effective use of data systems in support of a development program. Proficient at linking broad strategies with specific metrics to demonstrate success.
Strong professional writing skills, with emphasis on creating compelling appeals and donor-centered communications.
Excellent organization skills with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands.
Strong self-motivation and the ability to work as a team member.
Commitment to maintain confidentiality and a high degree of accuracy in donor records.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment.
High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with donor databases, Blackbaud/Altru, iWave, preferred.
Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
Enthusiasm for MOHAI’s exhibits, programs, and mission.
