Job description
Brooklyn Defender Services represents clients in a wide variety of cases, including serious felonies and misdemeanor cases as well as family court matters. Attorneys at Brooklyn Defender Services focus on the individual client’s needs, addressing the case from the standpoint of how that case will affect the client’s life.

Our office requires excellent investigators to assist attorney, paralegal, and social work staff in providing high quality representation to our clients. The investigator position is perfect for recent graduates.

Duties: Work on misdemeanor cases to preserve video surveillance. May also submit requests for subpoenas, as well as interview clients and witnesses and any other related work as required.

Required qualifications: Knowledge of the criminal justice system, computer literacy, ability to work independently, attention to detail, good writing skills. Must be comfortable working flexible hours, including occasional evenings, nights, and early mornings. Prior knowledge of surveillance systems preferred but not required. Willing to take public transportation and/or drive in various areas of Brooklyn. Must be able to navigate various social settings and difficult situations. Bachelor’s degree or higher is required.

Fluency in Spanish or Russian is preferred but not required
