Organization Background
Brooklyn Greenway Initiative (BGI) is the non-profit corporation that initiated and is coordinating the implementation of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. To assure that the greenway is maintained properly, we have developed the first Adopt a Greenway program in partnership with New York City Department of Transportation (DOT). We are poised to launch the program and seek a qualified individual to coordinate the maintenance services we will provide.
The Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway is a 14-mile route from Greenpoint to Bay Ridge with separate paths for cyclists and pedestrians. The greenway is being implemented segment by segment. There are 23 different capital projects in the greenway implementation plan.
Currently six miles are usable and an additional three miles are funded and in final design. To the extent possible, we seek to maximize the landscaping of the greenway, with an emphasis on restoring native plant communities to Brooklyn waterfront areas. We are also creating one- to two-acre open spaces along the route.

To apply for this position, please submit your cover letter, references and resume to mpuryear@brooklyngreenway.org with Maintenance Coordinator in the subject line. We will contact only those individuals whose applications are being considered.
