MANAGER OF FAMILY SUPPORTIVE SERVICES
Organization Background: CORA is a nurturing, dynamic agency that provides emergency safety and ongoing support for individuals who experience abuse in an intimate relationship, and educates the community to break the cycle of domestic violence. Now in our 37th year, and as the only agency of its kind in San Mateo County, our services include a 24-hour hotline, support groups, legal services, counseling, emergency and transitional housing, and more.
Position Summary: As a member of the leadership team, this new position will oversee three program areas: 1) Counseling and Mental Health, 2) Children’s Program, and 3) Supportive Housing programs and services. The Manager of Family Supportive Services will oversee the provision of the best possible services for survivors of intimate partner abuse and the smooth functioning of the department as a whole.
Responsibilities:
Supervision/Management/Program Development
Assume overall responsibility for day-to-day operations of the agency’s family supportive services.
Train and supervise staff, interns, and volunteers within the department.
Help maintain and strengthen CORA’s internship program by overseeing recruitment and hiring of interns in collaboration with CORA’s Clinical Supervisor.
Serve as primary contact and support for CORA’s contracted Clinical Supervisor.
Develop and implement new supportive programming as needed.
Participate in the Manager on Duty rotation.
Administrative
Develop and implement protocols and procedures relevant to Family Supportive Services programs.
Overall responsibility for monitoring the upkeep of case records and data entry.
Collaborate with other program departments to ensure a smooth and effective coordination of service.
Collaborate with CORA’s Finance and Operations Department to ensure up-to date leases and safe facilities for Transitional Housing Units.
Manage the department’s operating budgets in collaboration with the Director of Finance.
Quality Assurance
Oversee collection of accurate statistics and ensure timely submission of grant and board reports.
Design yearly department work plans in alignment with agency strategic goals.
Stay abreast of developments and trends in housing stabilization/self-sufficiency, case management, and therapeutic interventions for trauma.
Community Collaboration
Establish and maintain positive collaborations with university internship programs, local landlords and other agencies with whom we collaborate.
Represent CORA at county-wide meetings.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years management experience, preferably in a non-profit or social service setting, including experience with program development.
Strong understanding of domestic violence, trauma focused interventions, and trauma informed practices. Completion of 40-hour domestic violence training as mandated by the State of California. Candidates who do not already have this certificate will be required to attend the next available training.
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field required. California licensure as LCSW preferred.
Ability to work independently, to work under supervision, and to work in a team-based and goal-oriented environment.
Positive, “can-do” attitude, and solutions-oriented.
Experience managing data collection and submitted reports to government and private funders.
Demonstrated experience working with individuals from a wide variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds; ability to work effectively in a multicultural work environment and supervise a diverse staff.
Proven effectiveness in assessment, counseling with children, adults and families, and case management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical and problem solving skills; demonstrated ability to foster consensus and teamwork; strong organizational skills (ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines).
Bilingual desired, preferably in English and Spanish, or English and Tagalog.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain calm under pressure.
Demonstrated understanding of issues of oppression and social injustice as they impact CORA’s primary service area communities, commitment to cultural competence, and ability to manage and promote healthy interpersonal relationships in a multicultural workplace.
PC proficiency in a Microsoft environment; and experience with statistical software and database programs for grant reporting.
Ability to participate in giving and receiving constructive feedback, practice non-violent communication, and effectively utilize insight and self-reflection in a leadership role.
Familiarity with community-based services in San Mateo County and knowledge of Bay Area resources.
Access to an automobile, clear DMV record, valid driver’s license, and proof of current auto insurance.
Clean results from a criminal background check, including fingerprint clearance.
Reports to: Director of Programs
Compensation:
Full-time, exempt position (approximately 37.5 hours per week). Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
