Job description
PAI, a global organization that champions policies that ensure every woman has quality reproductive health care is seeking a Manager of Major Giving who will work closely with executive leadership, colleagues and the Board to plan and execute PAI’s individual giving strategy, a cornerstone of the organization’s revenue growth strategy.

Under the supervision of the Vice President for External Relations, the Manager of Major Giving will focus on engaging, cultivating and stewarding PAI’s mid-level donors, defined as donors with an annual giving of $1,000-$25,000. The Manager will work directly with donors and prospects, as well as support the VP, CEO and Board in cultivating new champions for PAI. S/he will serve as a key source of information and expertise within PAI on best practices related to the successful cultivation, engagement and stewardship of individual donors.

Qualifications
Innovative and proactive professional with a bachelor’s degree and minimum of five years of full-time experience in working with individual donors, including those with high net worth. Particular expertise in building an individual giving program with an emphasis on mid-level and major donors. A background in international development/relations, reproductive rights or global public health preferred. Fluency in a language other than English helpful.
Experience with donor segmentation and developing engagement opportunities (including written communications and events) based on donor profiles.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills, particularly in presenting to donors and writing donor collateral. Capable of representing organization to an array of external champions, primarily donors and prospects, but also Board members, partner organizations, donors and other constituencies.
Experience with building productive relationships with Program, Finance, Communications and Executive teams.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in a timely manner to complete assignments when faced with many deadlines and competing requirements.
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally, including to the developing world.
Passion for PAI’s mission, including sexual and reproductive health and rights, international development, global health and advocacy. Team player with a sense of humor, collaboration and creativity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Donor Engagement: Coordinate with and support VP of External Relations and CEO in personal engagement of donors. Lead process for cultivating existing donors through personal emails/letters, phone calls, event invitations, meetings, etc. Work with Development Coordinator to create donor profiles and other material to prepare VP, CEO and Board members for meetings, calls, etc. Cultivate and engage own portfolio of mid-level donors. Represent PAI at external events and meetings.
Donor Solicitation: Work with Development and Communications colleagues to execute calendar of donor solicitations, ensuring message is consistent with other donor communications and PAI brand.
External Communication: Work closely with key External Relations colleagues to develop and execute a calendar of ongoing communications to engage donors in a meaningful way, such as with printed materials, regular emails, webinars etc.
Events: Work with Board, donors, CEO and VP to plan and execute events designed to engage small groups of donors in PAI’s programs, and cultivate new supporters. Coordinate with VP, CEO and/or Board for timely post-event follow-up with donors and prospects.
Planned Giving: Collaborate with VP and external vendors on developing materials to educate donors on planned giving opportunities, and share information through website, mailings, meetings, etc.
Strategic Analysis: On an ongoing basis, track giving results, analyze fundraising effectiveness and work with VP to adjust priorities and plans as needed. Data-mine PAI donor history to identify candidates for mid-level cultivation from pool of annual fund donors.
Department Planning: Engage in organizational and departmental annual planning sessions by providing analysis on results, identifying areas for continuation/improvement, recommending new opportunities for attracting and engaging donors. Develop budgets for projects related to individual giving.
