JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary
The manager is primarily responsible for planning, directs, coordinates, and administers membership and chapter relations, recruitment and retention to place members into job opportunities at all levels of their careers. Manages the daily operations for membership/chapter relations including database entry/integrity/accuracy and report generation, and the membership application process.
Responsibilities
– Develops and directs a comprehensive marketing program for membership recruitment and retention, including conducting direct mail campaigns; website content and development; managing and motivating member volunteers to participate in various programs; writing and producing promotional materials; developing and directing ongoing membership marketing activities; analyzing results, and implementing new membership strategies.
– Provides strategic direction of membership as it relates to the association’s strategic goals.
– Manages relationships with other NAHJ departments to coordinate numerous membership activities and volunteers.
– Manages the daily workflow of all chapter inquiries both internally and externally.
– Staff liaison to chapter leadership, providing them assistance pertaining to rules and regulations of membership and chapter relations.
– Develops reference materials (manuals and information packets) for use by chapter leadership.
– Produces membership lists/reports; and develops reports on membership demographics, statistics, etc.
– Coordinates and administers national/chapter online elections and works with the election committee to hold a successful election process annually.
– Works with programming director to develop and produce reports of monthly chapter activities/events.
– Assists in identifying, creating, planning, and developing new member programs and services.
– Targeted notification and placement of journalists into training and professional development opportunities, including specific jobs of all experience levels.
– Connecting all journalists, from entry-level to mid career to senior-level journalists with entrepreneurial storytellers for professional mentorship.
– Manage and oversee the association online career resource center.
– Serve as a conduit to corporate members for year round contacts with, and electronic introductions to members who fit criteria for openings and generate candidates for these companies.
– Manage and oversee the annual conference expo and regional conference recruiting efforts.
– Performs special assignments or other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, English or Communications, and minimum of two-years experience in association management or marketing experience directly related to association management.
– Proven experience in strategic marketing and writing promotional copy.
– Knowledge of membership database software extremely helpful.
– Ability to plan strategically and excellent organizational skills.
– Knowledgeable about the media industry and the Latino community.
– Bilingual skills a plus
– Ability to work effectively in multicultural environment
– Demonstrated interest and commitment to advancement of Latino community
