POSITION DESCRIPTION
RHRC is seeking a Multimedia Editor who will help us to develop a comprehensive, vibrant multimedia approach to evidence-based reporting in a deadline-oriented environment. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the vision and capabilities required to produce content that can complement the high-quality, evidence-based news, analysis, commentary, and investigative reporting that is our hallmark.

Candidates must have experience in audio and/or radio production as well as in video production, though assistance may be made available for the latter. The editor will oversee staff working in audio/video production, help build those aspects into our written work where feasible, and commission and oversee freelance producers. The Multimedia Editor will join a cohesive and dedicated editorial team.

Reporting to the Editor in Chief and Managing Editors, the Multimedia Editor will:
Work with staff editors and writers to develop ideas for audio and video storytelling as standalone reporting or complements to written reporting.
Research and develop serial features that originate from both internal sources and acquired pitches.
Oversee production from the development phase through post-production.
Ensure high levels of quality, excellence, and relevance in all work produced.
Assist in budget creation and contract execution and compliance for multimedia work.
Coordinate as necessary with other RHRC teams, including social media, communications, and operations.
Assist with other editorial duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for this position has:
The vision and capacity to create multimedia content from scratch.
Demonstrated ability to manage and guide people, assign stories, manage timelines, and meet deadlines.
Fluency in video and audio editing.
B.A. degree in Radio, Television and Film, Journalism, or equivalent.
At least five years of experience leading radio/audio development and production.
Knowledge and experience in overseeing the production of podcasts and other audio content.
Demonstrated experience with hiring and managing contract workers and ensuring projects are completed.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud or equivalent software.
Basic working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Proven ability to identify unique ideas and translate them into successful audio programs.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong ability to show initiative and multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Demonstrated interpersonal and diplomatic skills, including the ability to work successfully within a collaborative team.
Strong organizational skills.
A strong work ethic.
A commitment to journalistic ethics and reporting best practices.
A basic understanding of and interest in reproductive and sexual health, rights, and justice.
Ability to work remotely.
