Operations Manager
India Development and Relief Fund, Inc (IDRF) is a US-based nonprofit that funds grassroots development across India and Nepal. We put power, not charity, in the hands of poor. We work on education, women’s empowerment, combating corruption, healthcare, and eco-friendly development. Over 25 years, IDRF has empowered hundreds of thousands of impoverished people, especially in rural and tribal areas. We provide grants to the Indian and Nepalese nonprofits that implement our programs. IDRF has a four-star rating on Charity Navigator.
Role Definition
Working closely with the President, Senior Executive and Board Members, the Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of operations such as communication programs, financial compliance and other administrative activities.
Our team is small and flexible; we work in a home office in North Bethesda, MD. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in development project monitoring and evaluation and nonprofit administration
This is a full-time position. The probationary period is expected to last initial six months during which compensation will be hourly at a rate comparable to other nonprofits. This is a career position which offers an opportunity for future promotion.
Responsibilities
Communication
Handle communication from donors and NGOs
Draft content for annual reports
Help communications team execute fundraising plan
Manage our website and Social media pages
Program
Assist the President in evaluating project proposals
Review reports from nonprofit partners
Evaluate projects on as required basis
Liaise with consultants in India
Manage the database
Accounting
Manage our financial accounts through Quick Books
Draft budget with input from President, Treasurer, and Board committees
Administration
Organize board meetings/conference calls
Other administrative tasks as and when needed
Required qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
At least 1 year of professional experience in international or community development
Knowledge of India’s socioeconomic conditions (internship, volunteer position, work, or major research)
Familiarity with QuickBooks software
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
US citizen, permanent resident or G4 Visa holders
Preferred qualifications
Experience in fundraising
Experience in designing, monitoring, and/or evaluating development programs
Dedication and spirit to serve the impoverished in India and elsewhere
Proficiency with QuickBooks software
