The Site Director of each local NDA operating site is responsible for cooperating with the staff of the national office in fulfilling requirements of AmeriCorps and The Corporation for National and Community Service.
Responsibilities of Site Directors:
Recruit, select and place members at local sites in collaboration with the National Office (NO)
Recruit approximately one half of your members from the local city or region.
Work with NO and Partnering Sites to secure member placements (using My AmeriCorps Portal, answering questions, interviewing, etc.).
Identify and/or maintain relationships with Partnering Sites and ensure they sign a Partnering Site Agreement and send to NO.
In conjunction with local Partnering Sites, develop member service descriptions and send to NO.
Ensure that service requirements are met
Ensure members are completing weekly timesheets and signed by site supervisor or site director. Timesheets must be sent to NO each month.
Enter member timesheets into My Service Log, a web-based member management system.
With assistance of NO, develop and maintain service objectives/program evaluations for your program.
Familiarize self with the AmeriCorps webpage and the National Service Resource center (http:
www.nationalservice.gov/resources) in regard to member eligibility, prohibited activities, service requirements, benefits and general program management.
Develop and/or maintain a process for measuring the program’s objectives.
Encourage members to wear AmeriCorps uniforms to create local identity.
Assist in providing on-going training and support to members
Conduct bi-weekly training sessions for members that include, but are not limited to, the following topics: tutoring/teaching, classroom management, conflict resolution, developing an ethic of service, leadership, cultural diversity, volunteer recruitment, and community awareness/current events and evaluation processes. Member trainings cannot exceed 20% of their service.
Visit Partnering Sites to support members in the field. Use appropriate tools to track visit.
Provide communication and interpretation on policies, procedures and program activities to members on a continuous basis.
Offer input in planning the regional and national training events; a pre-service orientation in September and a mid-year event in February.
Administer member evaluations (as indicated by NO) to track member growth and success during the service year.
Oversee finances for the local site
Send bills, requests for reimbursements and in-kind vouchers to the NO
Read and understand your approved site budgets so you may make appropriate and necessary expenditures based on available funding.
If program will accrue costs outside of the approved budget, contact the Executive Director for approval.
Collect Partnering Site Fees from Partnering Sites and send to NO as scheduled. Obtain a new Partnering Site Agreement when any changes are made.
Miscellaneous
Where applicable, assist members with community housing issues.
Attend Site Directors meetings 2 times per year.
Participate in one regional training event in September and one national training event in February.
Work with local media outlets to establish identity and promote NDA’s service.
Work in collaboration with the National Office to input necessary data into the My AmeriCorps Portal.
Other tasks as delineated by the Executive Director.
