The National Association of States United for Aging and Disabilities (NASUAD) represents the nation’s 56 state and territorial agencies on aging and disabilities and supports visionary state leadership, the advancement of state systems innovation, and the articulation of national policies that support home and community based services for older adults and individuals with disabilities.
NASUAD is seeking a Policy/Communications Analyst. The analyst selected for this position will work approximately half-time as a Policy Analyst assisting senior staff in the development of project deliverables including: writing issue briefs and reports; analyzing surveys; basic research on a wide variety of policy issues; and responding to requests for information from the states. The communications duties include maintaining three websites, assisting with the development of online training materials, providing social media updates, and editing a weekly electronic newsletter.
The successful candidate will be a college graduate, and have strong written and oral communication skills and analytical capability. Knowledge of website and survey tools and an advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel.
Key Responsibilities
Support senior staff with general research
Research and draft reports and issue briefs
Construct online surveys and analyze the results
Update Association’s three websites
Respond to requests for information from members
Develop and disseminate weekly enewsletter
Provide social media updates
Assist in the development of and posting of online training materials
Work on special projects, as needed
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Public or Health Policy, Public Administration, Social Work or related field preferred
Superior verbal, oral, and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Familiarity and proficiency with computer systems, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet software
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities
Ability to be flexible, multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Team player with the ability to take initiative and work well independently
