WestCoast Children’s Clinic has two openings for postdoctoral residents beginning September 1, 2015. This is a one-year full-time position in clinical community child and adolescent psychology. The agency is located in the Fruitvale district of Oakland, California and serves a rich diversity of children and families throughout Alameda and San Francisco counties. Most of the clients have experienced complex trauma and challenges associated with low income, while many are also involved in foster care and the child welfare system.
Postdoctoral residents participate in the Outpatient Therapy and Assessment Programs, working collaboratively with the families of young children, school-aged children and adolescents. Bilingual skills with Spanish language fluency preferred.
Services are provided in the clinic but more often take place in homes, schools, parks, and other neighborhood locations most convenient to families. Services are also provided in Spanish, with corresponding clinical supervision in Spanish for bilingual therapists. Culturally responsive practice, social justice, and the links between practice and policy are emphasized throughout the agency.
Postdoctoral residents also participate in 4 hours of supervision, 8 to 10 hours of training, and 22 hours of direct clinical service weekly. For more information regarding the program please visit the agency website here or contact Allison Pinto, Ph.D, Internship and Postdoctoral Training Program Director, at apinto@westcoastcc.org or 510.485.7403.
Compensation: The annual compensation for this position is $37, 500. Postdoctoral residents are also included on WCC’s medical insurance plan.
