Position Summary: The Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality (TRQ) is responsible for the recruitment of high-quality teachers to meet the staffing needs of Department of Education (DOE) public schools and programs, as well as being responsible for initiatives to promote the equitable and quality distribution of teachers across all schools. Research has repeatedly shown that teacher quality is the single most important variable in raising student learning. The Office accomplishes its work through a strategic, data-driven approach.

The Pre-K For All Staffing Team works to ensure that we have a robust pipeline of committed and diverse individuals to teach in our early childhood settings, particularly our community-based early education centers (NYCEECs). The team supports all Pre-K For All programs to ensure they have a high-quality teacher in their classroom by offering robust hiring supports, events, and staffing support. The Pre-K Recruitment Manager is responsible for managing marketing and recruitment strategies and supporting early childhood certification, hiring, and onboarding policies to build a diverse pool of teacher candidates for Pre-K programs in both district and community-based settings. Responsibilities
Recruitment Strategy
Support the design and implementation of a Pre-K teacher recruitment strategy that supports the growth and success of NYC public schools and NYC Early Childhood Centers (NYCEECs).
Work closely with the Director of Recruitment and the Senior Program Manager for Pre-K Staffing Support to meet and exceed Department of Education (DOE) hiring goals.
Support strategies to recruit teacher candidates for highest-need schools and community-based programs.
Ensure an excellent record of customer service for school personnel, candidates, and other key stakeholders.
Communications with Candidates and Community Organizations

Develop and manage information sessions for teacher recruits and assist with networking events.
Partner with community-based organizations and various DOE departments to develop marketing messages and materials to recruit for high-need early childhood education settings in New York City.
Collaborate with the Office of Early Childhood field staff and external early childhood education programs to enhance recruitment efforts.
Liaise with university partners in higher education to maximize the pipeline of teacher candidates who come to teach in Pre-K For All schools.
Certification, Hiring, & Onboarding Policies

Partner with the Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality and the Division of Early Childhood Education to develop policies and procedures related to certification, hiring, and onboarding.
Perform research to support study plan candidate policies in coordination with external partners to communicate clear pathways to certification.
Hiring Support for NYC Public Schools and NYC Early Childhood Centers

Serve as a point of contact for NYC Early Education Centers and teacher candidate inquiries.
Work with select Pre-K programs to develop a pipeline of study plan candidates who are committed to becoming certified.

Qualification Requirements
All applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least 18 months of managerial experience.
Experience in an early childhood education setting in either an instructional or operational capacity.

Preferred
Experience in a community-based setting in either an instructional or operational capacity.
Experience in educational recruitment and/or the field of human resources.
Understanding of national and New York State policies intended to increase teacher quality.
Familiarity with the New York State certification regulations and requirements.
Familiarity with Pre-K For All in New York City, including NYC Early Childhood Centers.
Ability to successfully work independently as well as in a team environment.
Familiarity with the New York City public school system and its organization.
Ability to understand and communicate information and data to a variety of audiences.
Experience in project management, including goal setting and tracking, planning and implementation.
Strong organization, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Superior relationship and management skills with the ability to influence and motivate others.
