Job description
WAND seeks an associate to assist the WiLL president and WiLL team with fundraising, legislator and legislative activities, and biennial conference/event planning. This position requires attention to detail, superb interpersonal skills, and a self-starter who will enhance the WiLL program and excel as a WAND staff team member. This position is full-time and located in our Atlanta office, reporting to the president of WiLL.
The Organization:
Women’s Action for New Directions is a national non-profit organization which seeks to empower women to act politically to reduce violence and militarism and to redirect excessive military resources toward unmet human and environmental needs. WAND has offices in Arlington, MA, Washington, DC, and Atlanta, GA.
WAND operates two non-profit organizations with one united vision. WAND Education Fund is a 501 C-3 organization which creates educational materials for training and briefing individuals, elected leaders and the media. WAND Inc. is a 501 C-4 organization, comprised of our Action Center, members, and chapters. Additionally, our Women Legislators’ Lobby (WiLL) is a national non-partisan network of women state legislators who work together to influence federal policy and budget priorities.
Essential Functions:
Staffing the WiLL president
Occasional travel as required
Participate and maintain records of internal WAND/WiLL meetings
Outreach to engage legislators in WiLL activities
Manage WiLL social media
Occasional writing and copy editing
Assist in operations for national WiLL/WAND biennial conference
Maintain president’s contacts with proficiency in WAND database
Prepare presentations and collateral materials for president’s donor visits, panels and meetings and assist with follow-up
Manage and follow-up with sponsors/prospects for biennial conference and WiLL Partnership program
Manage president’s communications and schedule, including travel, lodging, expenses, meetings and daily calendar entry
General office management including equipment, mail, supplies, and record keeping.
Recruit, train, and manage internships
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Proficiency with Microsoft and Google products; database skills
Proficiency in social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr
Familiarity with key policy issues important to WAND or willingness to learn
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; comfort with a wide range of external contacts and ability to speak to large and small groups
Experience in planning and staffing meetings and events
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines; attention to detail
Availability for occasional travel
