ABOUT THE POSITION
Press Assistant and Executive Coordinator
Third Way is seeking a Press Assistant and Executive Coordinator to provide administrative, communications, and media support to the Senior Vice President of Public Affairs. Duties and responsibilities associated with this position include:
Support to the Senior Vice President- 50%
Manage scheduling and calendar, meeting set up and logistics, and ensure appropriate follow-up after events.
Work closely with the SVP to help track daily work and long-term projects.
Coordinate travel arrangements (including preparing travel authorizations, travel advance requests, travel reimbursements, booking transportation and lodging, and travel binders.)
Manage email and postage correspondence and organize based on urgency/priority.
Create and maintain filing system for all documents, including talking points, business contacts, events and materials.
Collate weekly team updates for SVP’s review.
Prepare expense reports.
Work with Administrative Department to process bills and invoices.
Additional duties as assigned.
Communication and Media Support- 50%
Work with the SVP and the Senior Media Relations Manager to:
Update and maintain media and congressional contact lists
Maintain relations with media outlets.
Support communications plans with coordination for special initiatives and events.
Manage the use of Third Way’s media monitoring, press relations, and government relations databases; maintain and analyze media monitoring for each program.
Prepare daily and weekly media clips.
Provide backup support for Communications Department email outreach.
Provide backup support for pulling and editing clips from events
Build and maintain Twitter lists of journalists and influential people in specific policy areas; research possible for opportunities for further outreach.
Draft media pitches, press releases, briefs, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of two years of experience in a communications office required, preferably in a media relations capacity with social media and digital communications experience.
Capitol Hill experience strongly desired.
Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills.
Ability to effectively present and explain public policy research to the media and general public.
Initiative, dependability, news, and public policy savvy.
Ability to juggle multiple projects with competing priorities simultaneously.
Able to work under short deadlines, and deliver in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment.
