POSITION

Summary Description

This position focuses on child welfare and adult protection projects involving Structured Decision Making® (SDM) systems, family-centered engagement practices, and organizational supports to implementation. Must have knowledge of child and/or adult protective services systems, social work skills, or policy experience. Ability to use data in decision making required. Experience with the SDM® system, NCCD practice models, or child/adult protective services systems preferred.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Supports projects through remote and onsite work, which involves extensive travel. This includes but is not limited to assessment customization, practice model adaptation, application of implementation science principles, training, coaching, case reading, presentation of implementation findings/recommendations, and other technical assistance. May present at national conferences.

Provides high-level technical assistance, consultation, and field coaching to support program implementation. Assists client sites in using NCCD web technologies, such as webSDM (for various populations), SafeMeasures®, etc.

Develops policy and procedures manuals, training curricula, presentations, literature reviews, and other materials. Provides logistical project support, data presentation, and narratives; assists in the design of quantitative and qualitative data-collection procedures; performs data collection (such as case reviews, focus groups, staff interviews, and/or direct observation); and assists in the drafting of grant proposals according to the standards and timelines established by the project manager.

Works collaboratively with staff analysts in data-report production and interprets report findings for clients.

Keeps project manager(s) regularly informed of work progress, schedule, and other relevant information.

Assists in determining the most cost-effective methods for completing project tasks.

Other project-related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

High level of critical/analytical/interpretive thinking and problem solving required.

Demonstrates the ability to work/think independently and to execute assignments that reflect understanding of project task objectives.

Budgets time efficiently to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Requests direction from supervisor as needed and reports back in a timely manner on problems encountered and assistance needed.

Ensures that project tasks are completed within timeframes and meet conceptual objectives.

Level of Authority

Requires independent decision making, autonomy, and accountability under supervision/oversight for major project-related decisions. Formulates recommendations on project-related assignments and development strategies and presents recommendations to supervisor/project manager for review. May manage multiple projects. Oversees project budgets.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in a social science or human services–related field of study or public policy. Requirement of at least two years of prior professional work experience with NCCD or in another research setting, or two years of experience in direct services, program development, program management, and/or technical assistance in a child welfare, adult protection, or related social service agency. Strong customer relations skills and advanced written and verbal communication and organizational skills are required. Must demonstrate strong attention to detail. Program associate III requires strong group-facilitation and team-building skills.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in MS Office applications desired, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Experience developing E-Learning not required, but a plus.

Use of web-based meeting technologies not required, but a plus.

Work schedule: Full-time position at 40 hours per week
