Job Summary
Made in Durham seeks a program associate who will play a critical function in the organization, providing project management, partnership communications, and logistical support to the many facets of this exciting new community-wide partnership.
This is a full-time position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but are not be limited to:
Provide executive support to the Board of Directors and related committees (draft agendas, memos, minutes, and background materials for all meetings)
Support executive director by tracking progress of certain strands of work, communicating with partners, and supporting internal organizational communications
Write and edit materials for key constituencies, including business leaders, the public sector, nonprofit organizations, and the community
Complete research assignments as needed (e.g., best practices on various strategies relevant to the Made in Durham agenda)
Assist with program development as needed
Assist with fundraising by drafting proposals and preparing for funder site visits
Support Made in Durham’s transition to an independent nonprofit organization by managing hiring processes and on-boarding new staff
Manage files and organizational records
Provide logistical support for Made in Durham
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The program associate will have at minimum a BA or BS degree, and at least one-to-two years of work experience in the public policy, education, or workforce development fields. In addition, candidates must have:
Excellent organizational skills for managing a complex project with multiple moving parts
Excellent writing skills for multiple types of products (e.g., policy memos, foundation proposals, summary email correspondence with the Board)
Strong oral presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and capacity to serve as an effective ambassador for the Made in Durham partnership
Understanding of the nature of partnerships and an ability to work collaboratively and effectively with the diverse range of Made in Durham partners and the staff team
Ability to move quickly between tasks adapting to shifting priorities
Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines
A willingness to engage in an innovative start-up, requiring flexibility and adaptability
