Program Coordinator (7-12 grade) Windsor Heights – Southwest Youth and Family Services – Seattle, WA

POSITION SUMMARY: The Youth Program Coordinator is a member of the New Futures Program team at Windsor Heights Apartments located in SeaTac, WA. The primary function of this position is to conduct outreach to and build relationships with middle and high school students to provide them with supportive services using a holistic approach.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct outreach and build relationships with middle and high school students;
Coordinate and facilitate after school program for students to provide academic and social support;
Provide educational and enrichment opportunities for youth and participate in continuous quality improvement through the Youth Program Quality Initiative
Partner with external organizations and connect youth to outside programs and resources;
Create individual plans in partnership with the youth to develop long term plans for the future;
Coordinate parent workshops and meetings on a regular basis;
Maintain ongoing communication with school staff to ensure students’ progress and success in school;
Partner with families to support and encourage involvement in their children’s education;
Provide ongoing supportive services to families that promote family learning and foster self sufficiency in collaboration with Family Advocate;
Support all site activities and events through participation and attendance;
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, families, co-workers, and community resources;
Conduct evaluations and surveys as required by funders and program or agency guidelines and collect academic/participation data on the participants
Document work related to youth and parent activities in accordance with organizational policies;
Conduct home visits to families to discuss their children’s participation in program;
Actively evaluate overall program performance on a regular and ongoing basis and use collected information to make needed improvements;
Ensure that program is meeting goals and is aligned with Southwest Youth and Family Services mission and philosophy;
Manage program budget and monitor expenditures;
Participate in program and agency meetings and organizational initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: BA in related field required.
At least two years experience working with diverse youth.
Experience doing direct service work;
Experience working with diverse communities in culturally relevant settings;
Solid communication (written and oral), collaboration and intervention skills;
Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, participants, volunteers, and the wider community;
Valid Washington State Driver’s License and adequate insurance and safety record to drive participants;
Must be able to work at least four evenings a week.
