Program Coordinator – Fit 4 Life NYC – Brooklyn, NY

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Program Manager in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating an organized program for staff education, directed toward the achievement of professional excellence. He/she will serve as the primary contact person for all instructors in the capacity of technical assistance, staff development, lesson planning and fitness learning resources.

Areas of staff development include classroom and behavioral management for elementary, middle and high school students, as well as their learning styles and difficulties. The Program Coordinator will establish professional educational resources and instructional leadership for our Adult Fitness, Physical Education and Enrichment/After School youth development instructors. He/she will have an understanding of youth development, health and fitness, physical education and skill development of youth, young adults and adults. He/she will be responsible for the following:

On and off-site technical assistance and support for our instructors and schools/organizations

Monitors and evaluates the training needs of our instructors
Designs, plans and facilitates movement-based, classroom and behavior management trainings for instructors and/or partner sites and organizations.
Provides resources and recommends professional development to our instructors
Oversees the lesson planning and curriculum of each instructor
Assists in the implementation of thematic-based learning at our partner sites and organizations
Assists Program Manager and Human Resource Manager in identifying community-based fitness programs and activities for our instructors and partner schools and organizations, i.e. American Heart Disease Walk, Tough Mudder, Spartan Race, Basketball Tournaments, etc.
Assists Program Manager in the implementation and use of Learning Management Systems
Understands and implements our Play With A Purpose model
Assists Program Manager in the planning, development and execution of Fit 4 Life NYC events, i.e. Teacher Fit Day, Field Day, etc.
Analyzes training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs
Conducts surveys to identify training needs
Develops evaluation and outcome measurement procedures with Program Manager.
Evaluates instructor performance and the effectiveness of training programs and provides recommendations or improvements to Program Manager.
Facilitates movement-based trainings
Creates a community and generates enthusiasm for teaching, physical education and fitness
Perform work related tasks as directed by the Program Manager.

Qualifications

Understanding of Fit 4 Life NYC’s Play With A Purpose model
Associate or Bachelor Degree in Education, Physical Education, Exercise Science or Instructional Design preferred
Good critical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Google Docs.
Ability to facilitate trainings and model teaching practices and techniques for new Fit 4 Life NYC instructors
Classroom, behavior management and lesson planning experience
Team player but able to work independently
Detailed-oriented with excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
Flexible schedule
Ability to travel to partner sites throughout NYC
Customer service and interpersonal skills

Additional Information

Must be available during some mornings to visit instructors at partner sites and organizations.
Must be available to work a minimum of (2) Saturdays per month to facilitate trainings (based on trainings needed for the month), some evenings and attend Fit 4 Life NYC events.
