Program Director Job Description
Job Summary
Global Student Embassy’s (GSE) mission is to develop community leaders through action-oriented environmental education. Our Eco-Action program is a primary vehicle to accomplish our mission. The Program Director provides vision, leadership and management to our Eco-Action program in our local and international locations. The Program Director will supervise GSE’S County Program Coordinators as well as our international partners. The Program Director oversees all school and teacher relationships in the US, and will work closely with the Associate Exchange Program Director when the Exchange program and Eco-action programs overlap. This position reports to the Executive Director and requires proficiency in both English and Spanish.
Responsibilities
County Program Management
Directs the County Program Coordinators in order to ensure a high quality delivery of programs and successful recruitment of fee-for-service travel participants
Establishes and monitors staff performance regarding program implementation goals
Mentors and provides staff development using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results
Ensures staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development opportunities
Supports each county’s program through establishing and maintaining strategic teacher and administrative partnerships, generating MOUs with schools, etc.
Manages Program Coordinators to run a successful international exchange program in California
Manages relationships with partners such as curriculum providers
Supports Program Coordinators to establish connections for local funding sources from foundations, corporations, events and individuals
International Partner Management
Provides leadership and direction for international Eco-Action programs
Manage all contracts and relationships with partner organization, including generating and monitoring budget for Eco-Action programs
Program Evaluation and Coordination
Builds and manages program evaluation for all Eco-Action programs
Upgrades and implements appropriate systems, policies, internal controls, operations standards, and procedures across Eco-Action programs
Leads strategy for ongoing growth and vision of Eco-Action programs
General Management & Operations
Participates in Director meetings and collaboratively develops strategic goals and objectives.
Leads in the development and maintenance of marketing and development collateral that relate to the Eco-Action program
Qualifications
Experience managing local community programs required.
Supervision skills required.
Must be flexible and able to perform well under constantly changing environments.
Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills including public speaking skills.
Must have demonstrated project management and leadership skills.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
Must have strong cross-cultural communication skills.
Must be fluent in Spanish (written and oral)
Experience with Salesforce preferred. Ease with word processing, spreadsheets, and other computer functions a must.
