Program Director – Repair the World – New York, NY

ROLE

Repair the World is seeking a full-time temporary Program Director to cover a portion of the portfolios of two staff members who will be on parental leave. The exact portfolio will be determined based on the skills, experiences and interests of the successful candidate.

The position will run from September 15, 2015 through April 1, 2016 (with some flexibility on either side). This position is based in Repair’s national office in NYC and reports to Repair’s VP for Programs.

POTENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Director Role

Design and implement a four-day immersive mid-year retreat for Repair the World fellows (February 2016). Includes:
Managing curriculum, schedule, securing internal and external trainers, working with fellows on facilitating sessions
Overseeing the Program Operations Associate who manages logistics
Serve as liaison to local food justice and education justice faculty members.
Serve as the national point of contact for Repair the World Fellows, enabling them to access resources around skill-building and professional development.
Serve as a member of the program team and collaborating on key elements of the fellowship program.

Director of Special Projects Role

Core member of team tasked with designing and implementing a national campaign around racial justice for MLK 2016. Includes:
Stewarding partnerships with community-based organizations, Jewish nonprofits and individuals around the country.
Developing content and training modules
Digital and in-person outreach
Conduct trainings on effective service for organizations around the country (e.g. at conferences)
Manage a micro-grants program for groups taking part in Alternative Breaks.
Liaise to Repair the World Fellow alumni.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements

Core Competencies

· Strong background developing innovative social justice programming

· Ability to relate well to young adults and people with diverse backgrounds and experiences

· Sophisticated awareness of poverty, structural racism, power and privilege and ability to discuss these issues with diverse groups in ways that empower and open people to learning

· Ability to apply lessons learned in real time, and to course-correct accordingly

· Exceptional oral communication skills and strong written communication skills

· Excellent facilitator of meetings, trainings, and group-based reflection

· Understanding of and strong commitment to volunteerism and service best practices

· Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple high-level projects at once

· Comfort working both independently and collaboratively

· Curriculum development

· Teaching professionals and young adults from a variety of backgrounds

Additional Qualifications

· Flexibility, good humor, and eagerness to work in a fast-paced startup environment

· Ability to travel occasionally

· Interest in the mission of Repair the World
