Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children, a program of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. includes an Emergency shelter, drop-in program, mobile outreach and 3 transitional residences that offer employment skills development and supportive services for homeless women and their children is seeking a Residence Shelter Manager who is dedicated to serving homeless women and children.
Responsibilities:
Required to live on site and be on call six nights a week.
Oversee and manage the shelter’s daily operations.
Responsible for staffing, budgeting, funding, developing policies and community outreach.
Oversee all shelter functions to ensure a smooth flow of services and the facility’s safety, maintenance and general upkeep.
Supervises, assigns, instructs, trains and evaluates residence/shelter staff as needed.
Maintain public contact with community agencies, private citizens and groups for fundraising.
Resolves personnel problems as needed.
Responsible for overseeing the eviction process when necessary.
Maintain various records including reporting to funders and overseeing the lease up of units.
Ensure that shelter meets local and state regulations covering health, safety, and capacity requirements.
Qualifications:
(1) Undergraduate degree, 3+ years of relevant experience; (2) meticulous attention to detail; (3) advanced organizational skills; (4) Strong communication skills; (5) strong writing skills; (6) Experience working with the homeless population and/or non-profit environment preferred; (7) Knowledge of fair housing laws(8) Ability to work independently a must. (9)Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Location: Los Angeles, CA 90026.
Hours:40 hours/week and on-call six nights/week. Requires Shelter Manager to live on-site in an apartment paid by the company.
Salary: $40,000 – $44,000, commensurate with experience + generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision, sick and vacation time, and 12 paid holidays/year. All new hires are subject to a 6 month probationary period. Also included living facilities.
